I bought this pen as a Christmas gift for my daughter. The pen worked for a while but then stopped working. I took this opportunity to teach my daughter how to handle customer service issues herself. So my 12yr old, contacted the company's customer service department and informed them she was 12yr old. First off, the level of professionalism of this group was amazing, even speaking to a young person. I, of course, closely monitored what transpired through my email account. The company sent a replacement pen. No questions asked, only asked to return the previous equipment. After receiving the replacement, it instantly failed. After this occurrence, I investigated the pen myself, and could smell a burning smell inside the pen. This led me to believe that the motor had burned up, and to do so right out of the box it had to be the power supply. After emailing customer service about this, they sent a new pen and new power supply immediately, no questions asked. We then sent them back the old equipment and the old power supply for them to test. It was in fact a faulty power supply that caused the issues. The company representative even followed up with me to let me know what they found after testing. The company reps were actually reaching out to us to make sure things were correct, and that we were happy with the product. There were a few times during the process that we actually forgot and the reps reminded us that they wanted to help us. Superb customer service, never dealt with better people.

This pen is great. My kids love it because it is easy to use and easy to maneuver. The pen is easy to control and allows them to make adjustments in order to make their ideas come to life. It fits their hands nicely and produces quality designs.

I was stumped on what to get my 11 year old for Christmas. After looking at 3D printers and wood laser engravers, I went with this pen, since it was the least expensive and I wasn't sure if he'd like it. Well, he LOVES it. He was able to pick it up and start using it right away. It did take a bit of trial and error for him to figure out how to control it, but he's been able to make some pretty cool things so far. The problem is that these things break. We've been able to clear any jams/clogs relatively easily, but the first one completely stopped working within a month. Tech support was AMAZING. They responded quickly, gave us some things to try, and ultimately sent out a replacement, which arrived within a few days. Upon getting the old unit back they gave us an update and told us the heating element stopped working, it was a manufacturing defect, nothing we could do to prevent it. The replacement item is also having problems now. I've done some adjustments per the manufacturer, and he's still having problems. This one might have to go back as well. These are really cool when they work, they just aren't made well. And from what I've seen, most 3D pens are the same. Next time I'll spend extra and get something that'll last longer and be a little less frustrating.

I bought this, not really for its intended purpose but that made me aware of the fact that it uses a non standard filament size, which I did not notice before I bought it, and I wish I had. I needed to 3D print a large object, and the object would not fit on my 3D printer. I sliced the object up into 8 sections, and then I 3D printed each piece. I then used this, with the exact same filament I used to print the parts, to weld them together to make a single larger part. It actually worked, surprisingly well, except for one thing. This uses a 3mm filament. Standard printer filaments are 1.75 or 2.85. This means standard filament is too small to really be pushed through the way the pen is designed to push it. I was still able to push it through manually but it was really inconvenient. So, if you want to use this with only the filament that comes with the pen, or want to only use it with filament you buy from 3D doodler, then great, this may work great for you. However, there are lots of affordable multicolor filament packs available here on Amazon for 3D pens. They are based on 1.75mm printer filament and will not work with this pen. There are also lots of affordable pens available that work with 1.75mm filament. Just be aware that if you buy this pen, you will not be able to use standard printer filament sizes.

When I got the pen my daughter was so excited and it was working perfectly fine. Than she read the instructions and it said when you are done take the filament out and get any left overs so she got the tool and looked at the picture multiple times and it looked like it was all the way in so she did that. The next morning she went to use it and it didn’t work. I went back to Amazon and went to return and they sent me a new one. A few days later it came and she was using it maybe after one hour she got burned bad and than she used a stick of filament and than put the next one in when it ran out and it jammed so she took it out used the tool the right way she thought was better and than she was using it and it happened again now I already ordered another refill which was 40 dollars. there 3Doodler start was the best and I would buy again for my kids. But I will never buy this pen again it’s hard to control and it works for a day and that’s it!

Need more instructions to better work it maybe have few video clips to watch its a bit hard but very fun to do once you get the hang of it but it gets stuck alot and not knowing how to use it properly can be challenging for the twins even adults but over all i like it quality is good and nice looking

This pen is totally worth the investment. My son has used every day. It keeps him away from electronics and creating things. My son has not have a moment of frustration with it as the pen work smoothly. The only suggestion is buy the same kind of replacements it won’t work with other kinds.

Quite a bad product - filament keeps getting clogged in the pen (on first time usage) and isn’t as good as shown. Not recommended.

Funktioniert wie es soll, wenn man wohl auch erst etwas Übung braucht. Schade ist, dass man nicht gleich starten kann, weil man erst wenn das Gerät da ist feststellt, dass man noch einen passenden Stecker benötigt. So etwas gehört, wie ich meine in die Beschreibung. Eine Bedienungsanleitung in Deutsch gibt es leider nicht - diese ist in englisch. Ich glaube aber, das sich das Gerät quasi selbst erklärt. Mit ein bissel Englisch und ein bissel probieren, kriegt man raus, was man braucht.
