OK, I was skeptical. I've owned several pool cleaners, both attached to my pool system, and Cordless. All have been a disappointment. I saw this one on Amazon, and the price. This is a little more than twice as much as my last cleaner which was attached to the pool. But, I thought I would try it. When it arrived, I was suprised how heavy it was. Very heavy. my wife would not be able to lift it out of the pool, especially weighted down by water. I unboxed it, and it was pretty much all assembled, just a few parts that needed to be attached. Very easy to do. After assembly, I attached the charging cable. Although it arrived about 85% charged, it took a short time to finish the charge. At that point, I took it out, turned it on and put it in the pool. It seemed to acclimate itself to the pool before moving. There's an app you download and you can monitor the Scuba X1. Not while it's in the water, but while it's charging and adjust different settings. One of the settings is you can set the pattern you would like the cleaner to take in your pool. Just do the walls, just the floor or both. I left it on the standard setting of both. Once the cleaner started working, it did the walls. i was amazed that it climbed the walls, up to the tile and cleaned them, moved all along the pool doing the walls all the way around. It did have a problem with the stairs. I gave it some time to figure it out, but it didn't. It turned on Turbo jets to try and reverse itself, but had a problem with them. I moved it manually off the stairs. We'll see the more we use it if it will be able to manuver itself. After the walls were done, it moved to the floor and in an organized way it cleaned the floor and picked up every leaf and piece of dirt. It was spotless! There's a 3 hour charge, but after 2 1/2 hours, it parked itself and stopped. I assumed it was just finished. I pulled it out of the pool with a hook provided. I'm nervous how heavy it was filled with water. That hook seems like it won't last very long. I pulled it out and put it on the charging stand and plugged it in to charge. It took a few hours but it's now ready for the next round. We had several days of rain, so I haven't been able to try it again, but will do it in a few days. I looked on Amazon and the Aiper Store and there was very little information about this model. I was hoping for a video demonstration. The Owner's manual was sufficient, but a bit lacking on operation advice. You can figure it out, but a little more startup help would be helpful. Overall, I have to say I love this cleaner. It's beautiful to look at, It is pretty big though. it worked better than I expected, the app was helpful. I wish it gave information while it was operating, but I understand it can't from under water. It's a well constructed machine, design was thought out very well, and it worked better than I hoped. The price is definitely a factor, pretty expensive, but you get what you pay for. I will be using this cleaner often, especially duing the swimming season. This Aiper Scuba X1 Cordless Robotic Pool Cleaner is the Rolls Royce of pool cleaners. High end, efficient, very smart and easy to use.

I have now tested three pool vacuums with an entry level model and two more expensive high-tech models. What prompted me to try this model out is that I just purchased a robotic vacuum for my home for the first time in several years. I have been using the "dumb" early robotic vacuums that seem to wander around the house bumping into walls and getting stuck under furniture, not to mention having to empty and clean it every day with two hairy dogs in the house. Having just purchased a new home robotic vacuum with incredible smart technology that allows programming for various rooms and surfaces and like a cat it cleans itself! That said, when I had the opportunity to look at robotic pool vacuums I decided this technology had made huge progress in that arena as well and have now tested three different models. One of the models is a very low cost "dumb" version that wanders around the pool but does pick up debris and dirt but is not programmable and is harder to clean since it does not have a basket to collect it. Now I have finished testing a medium priced smart robotic vacuum as well as the AIPER model reviewed here. The big advantage of the higher priced models is the technology built in to them and that they are controlled by an app on my phone. The AIPER Scuba X1 appears to be a new model from this company that has incredible features built in - two jets to maximize the suction power as it cleans the pool bottom, as well as sturdy rubber rollers that sweep up debris and it can scrub the pool wall at the waterline to keep debris from collecting there and possible staining the tile. Unboxing is a bit of a challenge owing to its size and it is huge! This is really not an issue but it takes two people to get it out of the box and is pretty heavy to lift out of the pool. That said, it is an absolute workhorse and is doing a great job keeping my daughter's pool clean. I am currently using a different company's model in my pool and the other model in hers since we have almost identical pools that allow an apples to apples comparison of their effectiveness. The AIPER was very easy to set up with their app on my iPhone and this model has the added feature of buttons to select on the vacuum itself, rather than only from the app. This is important since the connectivity of my other vacuum requires it to be plugged in and charging to connect and neither of these models can connect to the app when submerged. A big advantage of this brand is that if I want to change the cleaning pattern (full vs bottom only, etc) I can do this at the poolside rather than from my phone. Another benefit of the AIPER is the charging option of either direct connection near an AC outlet by plugging in to the vacuum AND it comes with a charger base, much like my home vacuum model, except it doesn't drive itself home! I presume this charger base is IP67 compliant and can be left outside out of direct weather but I likely will keep the charger base in my garage. Also, the charger plug socket only has a rubber flap to seal it off so I will have to be sure it is closed completely when placing it back in the pool. Another huge advantage of this vacuum is the app allows me to set up a cleaning cycle that will continue for up to a week unattended while I'm out of town which is a great. In summary, the AIPER Scuba X1 is an amazing device that will keep my pool clean without the hassle of my current Polaris running around spraying me and the hose always in the way as I float around. The AIPER continues working almost silently and only surfaces to clean the side of the pool if programmed to do so. My daughter's Polaris is failing so I guess she will continue to use this one while I'll use the other top quality pool vacuum at my home, if she's lucky! When my Pentair pool vac dies I think I will just rely on my robot vacuum but anyone using this device will need to be sure to use the old fashion net and pole approach first to make it easier for the AIPER to do a better job. I can see these devices replacing the very expensive pump driven pool vacuums eventually.

This smart pool vacuum works great at keeping your pool clean, and takes the guesswork and labor time out of keeping the pool floor looking great. One of the big advantages of this is the app that can be downloaded on your phone that controls the vacuum. I really like this feature because it takes all the guesswork out of cleaning your pool, and you can control it with your phone which you almost always have with you. The overall coverage of the vac is great as well, it can clean the entire pool in no time, and you can set it to clean when you are not using the pool which makes it really convenient. The vacuum was larger and heavier than I anticipated, it will take a strong person, or maybe two people to get it in and out of the pool, that was one downside. It does climb the walls well so it has great traction and the suction on the vac is also really strong so it will leave the floor looking great after you run it. Once you run the vacuum it will surprise you when you open the filter to see how much debris it can actually pick up, I was impressed with this, and I also love that it will leave the pool floor looking spotless. The best part about this is that it does almost all of the work for you, so you can simply enjoy the pool rather than working all the time keeping it clean. It does cost quite a bit, but if you use a pool regularly it will really pay for itself over time, and keeps the pool looking great.
