Amazon obviously rethought their leather case game. The new leather case (walnut) for the 12th gen Paperwhite is made of supple material that wears nicely and smells good. The inner liner is nice and soft and feels good against your hand. The magnet is the strongest yet and holds firm when the folio front is folded to the back. I do wish that the Amazon cases covered the top and bottom edge of the kindle though. Not sure why they design them that way. I will probably put a skin on the back to keep these two edges covered. Apart from that, would recommend.

While a very nice case, the actual leather covering is paper thin. In my mind when I purchased, I figured for the price it was going to be nice thick leather. Time will tell how the leather actually holds up to dings and scratches. Edit: Dropping down to 1 star. So many scratches in just a couple of days of use...I've never seen leather scratch so easily. Would not recommend, especially at this price point. I have to question the other 5 star reviews.....are those paid reviewers?

Nice premium leather material . Looks great and very comfortable to hold . Update : after few days of use found it's taking lot of scratches. It goes away after use but it's still annoying how easily it takes scratches.

This is my third Kindle and Amazon brand Kindle Case. I had the fabric cases previously, but I wanted to try something different and more 'bougie' if you will. The downside is the cost... It pushes your Kindle purchase over $200, but I prefer to see that Amazon logo and know the company behind the product. In my experience Amazon's branded cases are of a higher quality than the litany of third party providers and worth the price premium. On the upside the leather is on the front and the back of the traditional plastic form fitting case. It snaps on easy and is very secure. In contrast to other reviewers in my experience the leather did not smell. Only if I hold it up to my face... and it's a nice smell. Leather scratches, yes, but it also heals itself. I don't plan on it, but if the scratches bother you then you can A) be careful not to drag your finger nails across the surface, or B) use a leather conditioner to protect it like your boots / purse / etc.

While the inside is nice and the molded shell gives the Kindle good protection, the leather is essentially unfinished. It is dyed brown but scuffs and scratches with the slightest touch. It is certainly not up to par with Amazon’s previous leather covers.

The magnets are not very strong and the case is not perfectly aligned. However it is extremely beautiful and makes the kindle easier to hold. Highly recommend!!

What a fantastic case. Before we can talk about this case you have to understand where Amazon was coming from... for the 11th generation Paperwhite they had a leather case that shined like plastic, looked like plastic, had fake "hide" texture imprinted on it, and smelled like rubber. It was horrible. This 12th generation case (in walnut) is trescendent... first off it smells incredible with a rich raw leather smell like the best wallets made from full grain leather. Second it is smooth and feels like velvet, brushing your hand on it reveals different shades of color in the surface in sunlight, again it's fantastic. Third it absolutely shows marks like real leather, so brush it with a finger nail and you will see a line... but just like real leather those lines disappear with use and friction. Finally it's clear it will patina like real leather, so I fully expect the case to darken and show natural wear as it absorbs oils etc. This is the best leather case for Kindle Amazon has ever made. It rivals and exceeds even the one they made years ago for Oasis, and it represents a total 180 from the disastrous version they made for the last generation of Paperwhite. The12th generation Paperwhite and Colorsoft users who love real leather shouldn't hesitate, this is an outstanding case.

I have used the original Paperwhite Kindle since 2015 along with the Amazon brand case released that year. I decided to finally upgrade to the latest kindle and figured I would buy another case from Amazon since the 2015 model worked out so great. Big mistake. This 2024 model “premium leather” case is extremely thin and if there is any leather in it at all I would have to use an electron microscope to see it. The surface feels like plastic, not leather at all. It has more of a velvety sort of texture wrapped over a hard plastic. Feels terrible in my hands and not at all what I expected. I don’t think it will protect the kindle either! By comparison, the 2015 leather case sold by Amazon was soft and pliable while still offering a lot of cushion for the kindle device. This 2024 case does not feel like a “premium” case and not worth the $60 they are asking. It feels like a cash grab. I am returning this and plan to buy a better value case from a third party seller.

La funda ajusta perfectamente, es ligera y el cierre magético es perfecto. El acabado es en piel natural, tanto por delante como por detrás, con el tacto y el olor de la piel. Lo que conviene saber es que es extremadamente delicada: basta un roce para dejar una raya o una marca. En una semana de uso cuidadoso su aspecto es el de piel antigua o muy usada, como muestra la foto. Personalmente eso me gusta, pero puede que a otras personas les moleste. Me preocupa que con el tiempo el aspecto se deteriore en exceso.
