I have bought several before where the hose kinked up inside and lasted a few days if not weeks. Also the head was made cheaply. Not this one. This is grade A compared to those and reasonably cost wise was excellent. Now I don't have to look for quality. Now I will just come here and buyReviewed in the United States on November 16, 2024

Paper is thick and it holds pencil pretty well also.

I am a snob when it comes to watercolor paper, usually opting for 100% cotton with internal and external sizing, like Arches. But, I decided to try this paper for practice and preliminary works to save the spendy stuff for up-scale watercolor paintings. This paper surprised me. I'd say it comes in quite a bit more towards the cotton alternative than Canson XL, for instance, which just lets pigment slide around on the top surface, which is true of most pulp paper. This Amazon paper is more absorbent than that, making it a bit more like cotton. I paint a lot of wet-in-wet watercolor and have found that this paper handles that pretty well. It flows okay, but a little less than cotton. Colors stay nearly as vibrant, and I suspect they'll be as light-resistant as on any other non-acid paper.

These sheets are apparently not buffered so I do not have to wash them in an acid bath to use with the new cyanotype formula. What a huge time saver that is. Huge. In order to clear the buffering out of watercolor paper that needs it, I spend almost 3 hours just for 12 sheets. These sheets unwashed, tend to be a bit lighter blue, but I double coat them and have double verified the exposure time (under UV) and I am sold! Plus they are way cheaper than just about any other buffered watercolor 300gsm paper. And they are way, way cheaper then any non-buffered watercolor paper.

Look...I bought this just to prove it isn't good which sounds awful but I have bought every brand of 100% cotton watercolor paper on Amazon to find MY PERSONAL FAVORITE. I think arches is lovely and in the beginning it certainly taught me the importance of 100% cotton and so did the not cotton brands like Canson and Strathmore . (shocked by how terrible they were). If you go to Michael's for watercolor paper, it's like you get the best, arches or you get the next level and it's Canson and Strathmore which are enough to make you want to give up. Watercolor is a challenging medium and unfortunately if you really want to give a fair shot you can't cheap out on certain things... like paper. Now I'm not a real artist but I watercolor every single day so I go thorough a ton of paper. I just buy a ton of supplies in general so I may not be a professional but I know whats good and what's not. When it comes to paper, I love arches but unless you're buying the heavier options they offer that arent offered by all the brands, there's lots of great paper out there. Personally, I really like a WHITE paper (Winsor & Newton, New York Central, Hahnemhle, and Meeden are where I'm happy) but believe me a lot of 100% cotton isn't great but it's personal i think. What I can honestly say is that I've never tried a paper that's NOT ALL COTTON that's worth buying again. I was consistently disappointed with the way the pigment dried unevenly on the paper. Now that could be my lame artistic skills but it's just another reason why you need nice cotton paper to learn watercolor or you may give up thinking you are the problem when it's the paper. Also not a fan of the way some of them have a strange "faux" cotton texture to them. If it's not cotton, it's just weird (arteza). This does have a HOT PRESS kind of finish but hot press doesn't always dry as nice as this does. I'm just impressed and I'm about to save a ton of money because I'm gonna save a ton of money with this paper. I do love a block over a pad but not that much more. If you like hot press or Hahnemhle cold press paper (its the priciest of my top 3 brands), I think you'll be pleased with this, honestly. Oh ..I ordered this morning and I got it by 3pm. Nice!

This paper is high quality! It’s a good value and doesn’t bleed through. The paper doesn’t warp or shift. It’s a great size and great price.

These pages feel good. They easily peel away from the pad. I am happy with the look and feel of my completed paintings and the value of this book when considering price, size quality and number of pages per pad. They do warp a bit where there's a lot of watercolour. Taping the pages down when painting may help but I haven't tried that so I am not sure.

This is a superb high quality pad. The paper is thick and easy to draw on. It is suitable for watercolours, felt tips (inc sharpies), brush pens, ink and for use with bleach washes. Workg reat with fountain pen ink and calligraphy. The paper comes out of the pad easily allowing for mounting/framing. Recommended for art and calligraphy
