Replaced a can opener that had gradually deteriorated and wouldn't reliably open cans. It would drop the can half way through and was a general pain to use. I had eMailed the company (a German company) trying to buy replacement parts, but got a response that said they do not sell parts for their kitchen products. So in other words the expensive German product is a "throw away". Very frustrating. After looking at the reviews on a dozen can openers, I didn't find a single one with consistent excellent reviews. All had issues about longevity, operation, leaving metal shards in the food, etc. My solution was to buy a modestly-priced unit with a decent brand name and hope for the best. I've had this Cuisinart unit for about a month and it's a huge relief from the old unit I threw out. It grips the can and you actually don't have to stand by with your hands under the can preparing to grab it when it falls out of the opener! It's tall and so cans fit under it easily. It stops when the can is fully cut. What's not to like? So far the only negative I can point to is its thin profile - while tall for tall cans, it is not really rock-solid stable and you have to make sure you don't tip it when you move it around or attach a can. A small price to pay for an opener that does what I bought it to do - open cans. In six months or so, if the opener is still functioning, I will up it to five stars. And even if parts wear, if Cuisinart will sell replacement blades and things, it will still get five stars. So this is an early review, very positive, with upside if it continues to work. UPDATE: Have been using this can opener for several months, now. It continues to work flawlessly and is far superior to the more expensive unit it replaced. I have increased the rating to five stars. It is a delight to use, and after the trials and tribulations of the earlier expensive German unit, this is an amazing product at a very attractive price point.

Great little can opener, ( good size fits into my small countertop space) needed a new one after mine broke. I like Cuisinart for its dependability, never had any problems with their items. This works great, and in my experience, they are very durable. Easy to use.

I bought this for my mother. She is 85 years old and cannot figure out how to use a regular can opener and calls me to open all of her cans. I have now had to move in with her because of her age. I am tired of her attempting to open her cans with anything she can find. This worked! Yea! I bought it for her. No thank you but it works. Good value!

While we are a Cuisinart fan as a rule, we purchased a different brand of Electric Can Opener that cut the entire top off with no sharp edges. However, it was difficult to remove the top once cut. So, a month later we purchased this conventional Cuisinart Electric Can Opener. Hands down... the better way to go. Easy to insert the can, light tough for the lever to activate, grabs the cut top piece when the final cut has taken place and finally the lever assembly lever can be removed easily for cleaning. Highly recommended!

As it gets more difficult with age to use a manual can opener, it’s nice that the first electric one I have purchased in years. Cuisinart makes a quality product. Works as advertised.

Llevaba muchos años con un abrelatas de otra marca que aún funcionaba pero estaba oxidado y por lo tanto no me parecía muy seguro para estar en contacto con mis alimentos. Como consumo pocos alimentos enlatados, probablemente uso el abrelatas una vez cada 2 o 3 semanas. Por lo tanto, decidí esperar hasta que este producto estuviera disponible a un precio accesible y logré conseguirlo por menos de cuatrocientos pesos (no es el mejor precio que haya tenido en Amazon pero tampoco es el más caro). Al recibirlo, me di cuenta que es aún más bonito en la vida real ya que tiene un aspecto muy moderno y profesional. También pude comprobar que funciona de maravilla y requiere de muy pocos conocimientos para poder usarlo. Se integra perfectamente a mi cocina ya que es negro y combina con todo (y se ensucia con menos facilidad). Ahora solo espero que me dure por lo menos la misma cantidad de años que el anterior (aunque de preferencia incluso más).
