Customers like the coffee temperature and mug size of the product. They mention it keeps their coffee hot, the heat control is good, and the app is easy to use. However, some customers feel the convenience of the product doesn't warrant its price and the charger plates are unreasonably expensive. They also say the battery life drops off quickly and the open top drains the battery faster. Customers disagree on functionality, build quality, and ease of use.

I have had and loved this cup for years but I never could get the app to work well with my android phone. A few weeks ago my cup needed replaced and when setting it up I learned they have updated the app! It now works seamlessly with my cup!( It used to constantly lock up) I still loved my Ember mug because I'm a coffee addict, having it hot an hour after I pour it is simply the best! No more wasted coffee gone cold! Even without the app it kept my drinks hot but the set temp was a bit warm for me. I know the cup isn't inexpensive but it's fabulous! My first copper one still looked new after 2 years...but stir with plastic spoons only...metal will scratch it! Love it!!

I have had three sets of these cups. One for the office and a replacement in the house. I like the cup and it does keep my coffee hot, for a while. It comes set for 135 degrees and I like my coffee at 140. So the battery does not last as long. I usually get a half hour or a little more. Having to talk to my coffee cup through an app is a pain in the a** for an old person. The manual says that the coffee stays hot if left on the cup holder. I have never found this to work. The cup holder has been difficult for all the cups I have had, and I have had these for several years. The little pins in the holder have never been good quality and it is usually necessary to finick around with the cup to make sure it is charging. Handling two cups is difficult as the application is poorly designed and does not accommodate this feature. OVERALL, this is a great innovation. Over time, the batteries will get better and the manufacturer will learn how to put the controls inside the cup and dispense with the app. I gave it five stars and it rates five stars. Remember, this is a technology in its infancy and while a significant advance, it has not matured. The price is about double what it should cost. However, the cheaper competition is way behind. Bite the bullet and pay for the best of the available products, Ember.

*update* !! The mug still works awesome and I’m super happy with it…PLUS…I discovered that my yeti travel cover fits in it!!! This extends the 80 mins of heat to MOST OF THE DAY (at 120F) if you can get ahold of a travel lid then you’ll love it even more!!! I tried out Ember, Nextmug and a coffee cup warmer. I chose Ember and here's why: (For context I am a busy mom and I drink one cup of coffee per day. I tend to sip on that cup all morning long. I like to bring it around the house with me, often settling in one area for long periods (like to do a craft or do computer). I chose the Ember mug and here's why not the others: 1) The warmer- I couldn't bring the mug around the house with me, it had to always stay on the warmer. Also, as I drank the coffee down, it got hotter and hotter (less to heat). I had to keep turning the warmer down. Twice I forgot I left the warmer on and left the house and it stayed on all day. The warmer was also very hard to clean if you got a ring on it because it gets baked on. Literally I could not get the ring stain off. Lastly, the coffee tastes super gross after a few hours. Not sure why...but the heat from the bottom does something to it. 2) Nextmug - I didn't like the shape of the mug. It looks deep but actually half of the mug is the heating element so it's not deep. Mine kept shutting off randomly, like within 10 mins of setting it, maybe it was defective? It also seemed to get hotter as the liquid became less like the warmer did. 3) Ember - immediately I could see the temp on the app as soon as the liquid hit the cup, which I thought was NEAT! It turns its self on automatically when the coffee is put in it and goes to the last setting you set it at. It keeps it at that exact temperature regardless of how much is left in the cup (yay!). Thus it never overheats the coffee and the coffee stays delicious. I can take it all around the house and it is sturdy, looks cool and is nice and deep. It does shut off a lot sooner (from inactivity) than others, BUT it heats back up again surprisingly quick, so I'll take it. Others have voiced connectivity issues. I have an iphone14 pro and it hasn't had any trouble yet, but I just got it. For the record I was hoping I could control it via the app even when I wasn't home (like turn it on and off remotely) but it doesn't work that way. Since it's bluetooth and not wifi controlled you have to be near it for it to work. Good luck friends!

I’ve been looking at these since they were first introduced to the market. A lower price on Amazon and a new version of the mug resulted in me pulling the trigger. LOVE it on cold mornings outside and sipping time inside. Drink will stay hot as advertised according to your settings. It looks great and well built. The optional lid is disappointing, but that’s another subject.

I had the first ember cup that ever came out and liked the idea but cup was small (more like a tea cup) like that it came in the 14oz only negative part is the cup never charges to 100% no matter how long I leave it on the charger and I even use the plate while drinking my coffee… I was hoping to use it without the plate all the time but that’s not the case for me. It’s also taking sometimes heating up my coffee too much and causing a layer of skim across the top which definitely isn’t pleasant when taking a sip and getting that in ur mouth!

Bought as a gift for my MIL. Does she still greet the kids at the door every morning with it? Yes. Does she tell me the temperature everytime she uses it? Also, yes. Does she feel fancy af using it? Hell yes. Buy the mug for your MIL. It will just make life better.
