I love my Ember mug. Bought it as a Christmas present to myself. The one thing that’s a little wonky is the battery indicator on the app. It will get stuck at 85% charging level for a long time and then eventually will push up to 100%. The battery works fine it’s just a wonky thing. Otherwise a great product. I’ve found that cheaper coffee tastes better when it stays a good temp. I usually set coffee at 138 and tea at 141. Love the ability to set and save presets at lots of temps. A quality item that is somewhat life changing. They are expensive though.

It works beautifully. Temple is automatically maintained. Got distracted with a chore? You coffee is nice and hot and waiting for you. We bought two more. We are cautious and really dry the bottom of the cup. Easy to maintain and attractive. Highly recommend.

This review is based on Ember's customer service. The mug worked well for about six months. The pin on the charging coaster broke and I reached out to "customer service" multiple times to ask if it was covered under the 12 month warranty with only one response indicating they would respond promptly; I waited a couple days tried in vain to reach them again with no response. I ended up purchasing a new charging coaster, so that I'd not have to discard the mug and have it be a total loss. If or when it breaks again I plan to replace it with the Nextmug. I still have the broken charging coaster just in case Ember contacts me in the next week or two.

*update* !! The mug still works awesome and I’m super happy with it…PLUS…I discovered that my yeti travel cover fits in it!!! This extends the 80 mins of heat to MOST OF THE DAY (at 120F) if you can get ahold of a travel lid then you’ll love it even more!!! I tried out Ember, Nextmug and a coffee cup warmer. I chose Ember and here's why: (For context I am a busy mom and I drink one cup of coffee per day. I tend to sip on that cup all morning long. I like to bring it around the house with me, often settling in one area for long periods (like to do a craft or do computer). I chose the Ember mug and here's why not the others: 1) The warmer- I couldn't bring the mug around the house with me, it had to always stay on the warmer. Also, as I drank the coffee down, it got hotter and hotter (less to heat). I had to keep turning the warmer down. Twice I forgot I left the warmer on and left the house and it stayed on all day. The warmer was also very hard to clean if you got a ring on it because it gets baked on. Literally I could not get the ring stain off. Lastly, the coffee tastes super gross after a few hours. Not sure why...but the heat from the bottom does something to it. 2) Nextmug - I didn't like the shape of the mug. It looks deep but actually half of the mug is the heating element so it's not deep. Mine kept shutting off randomly, like within 10 mins of setting it, maybe it was defective? It also seemed to get hotter as the liquid became less like the warmer did. 3) Ember - immediately I could see the temp on the app as soon as the liquid hit the cup, which I thought was NEAT! It turns its self on automatically when the coffee is put in it and goes to the last setting you set it at. It keeps it at that exact temperature regardless of how much is left in the cup (yay!). Thus it never overheats the coffee and the coffee stays delicious. I can take it all around the house and it is sturdy, looks cool and is nice and deep. It does shut off a lot sooner (from inactivity) than others, BUT it heats back up again surprisingly quick, so I'll take it. Others have voiced connectivity issues. I have an iphone14 pro and it hasn't had any trouble yet, but I just got it. For the record I was hoping I could control it via the app even when I wasn't home (like turn it on and off remotely) but it doesn't work that way. Since it's bluetooth and not wifi controlled you have to be near it for it to work. Good luck friends!

I am a woman of, ahem, a certain age where I have the attention span of a gnat. I will start drinking my coffee and then get distracted by having to do something and come back 10 minutes later to lukewarm or cold coffee. The Ember mug does a great job at keeping my coffee warm and I'm delighted. As far as temperature control, it is exactly what it says it is and I love it. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that I wish it held 16 oz in mug form and more importantly, I wish the handle was thicker and more comfortable. The mug is a bit heavy because of the electronics and it's a thin handle so it's not exactly comfortable. Despite this, I am keeping the mug because I am deeply enjoying having warm coffee again.

Coffee drinkers have something in common. Coffee is perfect as soon as brewing has been completed, and it goes downhill from there. It quickly cools or, if kept on the burner or hot plate, it gets bitter pretty fast. Now imagine a "smart mug" that keeps the same temperature all the time and, as having been brewed through a K-cup pod, it hasn't any grounds at the bottom, maintaining its fresh and just having been brewed flavor and temperature perhaps all day. That defines the Ember Temperature Control Smart Mug 2. I didn't believe it could behave as advertised and you would be right not to believe it either. It has an internal battery that communicates with a nicely fit coaster. The mug on its own knows when there is coffee inside and proceeds to maintain the temperature you have programmed. The battery in the mug is good for more than an hour, if you're on the move, and for as long as needed if the mug is set on its coaster. It's all electronic and so the unit doesn't get hot. And the mug itself is very sturdy. I have lost a few mugs when drying them after washing and having the handle break off in my hands. Not with this one. It appears to actually be a perfectly molded metal cup with a ceramic baked exterior. So, the handle can't break off. I am careful when washing the mug to try to keep the bottom side dry, but the company says the mug can be fully submerged in water. This mug is like alien technology! Okay, it's pricey when compared to a mug you'd buy at your favorite discount store, but take the total cost and divide it by the endless number of perfect cups of coffee and you will see that it's actually a bargain. I don't know how I ever did without it.

I had the first ember cup that ever came out and liked the idea but cup was small (more like a tea cup) like that it came in the 14oz only negative part is the cup never charges to 100% no matter how long I leave it on the charger and I even use the plate while drinking my coffee… I was hoping to use it without the plate all the time but that’s not the case for me. It’s also taking sometimes heating up my coffee too much and causing a layer of skim across the top which definitely isn’t pleasant when taking a sip and getting that in ur mouth!

I like to drink a long cup of coffee over 20 minutes or so, sipping every once in a while and that was always a rapidly declining enjoyment with normal coffee mugs. The colder the coffee got, the more I would wince when I drank it. Off to the microwave! Not idea. I got the Ember more as a tech gadget than anything because I was skeptical. However, this thing really works for what I need! I never really need it for more than 30 minutes so for me the battery life is absolutely fine. In those 30 minutes the coffee stays at the exact precise temperature I set and it's an enjoyable sip... almost until the last drop. I say that because as the coffee level gets low, the heat still stays at the same temperature which means your last few sips could taste burnt. I learned to turn it off when the level gets to a certain point and I'm able to finish the coffee still hot, but not at my "maximum enjoyable level". Still... I ended up buying a smaller one for home after using this one for work. Expensive and not really needed, but it's something that has brought enjoyment every single time I've used it. If that's what you're looking for, I recommend it!

Not really much to say here, yes these mugs are expensive, all I would say is keep watching the price, normal retail is £149, I have seen the 14oz grey version drop to as little as £99, kicking myself for not buying then, I took the plunge when saw back on offer at £119, the mug itself works flawlessly, I never turn it off manually and goes to sleep as soon as it’s empty and wakes up once a drink is poured into it. The app which I am using on iOS could be much better, it very rarely automatically connects to the mug, however this is not a issue as once you’ve set your desired temperature the mug will remember those settings and the white led will remain solid once that temperature has been reached. I find the mug very easy to wash, I am mainly using with Tassimo coffee so even after being left a couple of hours and there’s a ring round the top of the mug it cleans off very easily. I read previous reviews of folks complaining that the mug marks easily from spoons, so with that in mind I am using wooden tea spoons and can confirm no marks as yet.
