These hats are surprisingly good looking, comfortable, and very useful. I ordered one for my husband after reading the Wirecutter recommendation and, upon seeing it, immediately ordered one for myself. I wear it for going out after dark to snip herbs in the garden, etc. It's warm, but not as warm as my regular fleece hat, so I don't use it for dog walking. However, I'm considering their fleece lined model for that sort of thing. The light is bright enough to replace a flashlight. My husband wears his in cold weather while doing outdoor tasks that used to require a headlamp and, sometimes, just as a hat.

This hat is Awesome!! I love it!! No need for a hand held Flashlight when You have this Beam lighting the way. It's Warm & Durable. You can wash it. Just take the light part off. I air dried mine. The Light shines very bright! Leaving your hands Free for other things. I bought these for Gifts. Very affordable. You can not, not buy just 1. They have many Colors to choose from. 1 sz fits most. Plenty big enough. Would highly recommend. Just purchased 4 more.

Material is nice and soft as well as warm. The light is bright and easy to pop out to wash the hat or charge the light. I bought one for each of my family members for when we have PNW power outages as well as for for some of our "White Elephant" gift exchanges.

The beannie is great but I am not sure about the material as it has shrunk slightly after washing. It feels like a wool blend.
