I needed to free up space in my two car garage so I decided to try this overhead storage and it’s great. It was easy to assemble, the quality is better than expected for the price, and it arrived next day.

I purchased two of these to go in my garage and my workshop. Although they are a bit tricky to install they are well worth the effort. Normally I am a solo flyer for diy projects, but this one will require an extra set of hands (or two). Once installed the unit feels very strong. I have full totes of holiday decor and camping gear on them and have no concerns about if they will last. The overall setup was pretty straight forward. The most difficult part is deciding where to mount it and make sure you know where the studs are for safe and proper mounting. I can see myself ordering this again in the future. With 12 foot ceilings in my garage this is tons of free storage space I never realized I had!

If you’re looking for more storage this is the way to go. I was running out of garage space but not anymore, when garage door is open. You don’t even see the shelving. Installed time was about 2 hours with 2 people. Very sturdy also 👍

I bought and installed two of these. They are great for taking advantage of the wasted ceiling space in the garage in order to give you much more storage space as you can never have enough storage; and it greatly opens up the garage for your car(s) and work space. The downside to this is that the installation isn't the easiest, the directions are fair, the threads for the holes are not very good and their support is non-existent. Originally I had a difficult time with finding my studs (turns out I didn't have traditional studs in my ceiling and thus the challenge). On Amazon there was "professional installation" offered for an additional $100 expense. This seemed expensive and I didn't get it but after having issues with my studs, I considered purchasing it for one shelf and figured I'd watch and then know how to do the other. The Fleximounts support line is non-existent. No one ever picked up or returned voice messages. I resorted to calling Amazon. Amazon said the installation purchase was offered by Fleximounts not them and so you had to purchase it from them. She then called the company herself and they picked up for her (I'm thinking because they saw it was Amazon) but then she got the run-around and then they said they didn't offer the installation service, so I wouldn't recommend paying this as I'm not sure what you are really paying for. It is critical to have your measurements exact for mounting the ceiling brackets, so finding the studs perfectly is a must. Mine was very difficult and I resorted to cutting a 4"x4" square where one of the the studs should be; it turned out to be metal furring strips instead which made it even more challenging; but ultimately I got it done. For furring strips it is important to get the outside edges exact, so you can then find the dead-center (with furring strips you have to hit the dead-center for it to work). There are a couple of videos on youtube that are worth watching to get familiar with the overall process. One guy recommends leaving the vertical arms loose for the installation but I found it best to tighten it almost all the way done, with just the slightest looseness for hanging the shelf by yourself. Likewise don't do like the directions, but leave the shelf in two sections for installation if you have the 4'x8'. Connect two and then the other two so that it is a 4'x4' at that point and install them one at a time. Two arm ends have hooks to help the shelf stay up, the other two are the center pieces and have the slightest ledge to balance on so I put a screwdriver through one hole to help hold it in place and then put in the screw in the other hole. Then replace the screwdriver with a screw and then do the other holes. Once the two shelves are up, screw the centers of the two shelves together. This was very challenging as I found either the holes didn't line up or the threads were horrible. The majority of all the threads in the holes were manufactured really bad so the bolts screwed in really difficult for the majority of all the holes in the shelf part. One shelf I couldn't screw the centers together as the holes just didn't line up no matter what I tried, which even included turning the shelf around. If you use a drill, I recommend being very careful and DO NOT tighten it all the way down with the drill as the bolts will strip extremely easy which will make it impossible to take down later in time. It is best to stick to using a hand ratchet. When picking out your ceiling location, for true strength you need to make sure you span over multiple studs like their directions recommend, so your studs will dictate the direction of your shelves. Likewise I would not go flush with the wall because it'll make it impossible to screw in the bolts for the shelf. One recommendation which I thought was clever was to install the shelves over your garage door when it is open. Your height on the shelf can be set to what you want (it is somewhat flexible for your space with a max and min length). That space above the garage door is wasted but you will only get limited space, but it is a useful area to put a shelf. Once up and finished they are great. I wouldn't get physically on them as they only recommend a max of 150 lbs on each individual section. So with the stuff I put up on the shelves, I was conscious to balance out the weight. The videos say that they got the shelves done in a couple of hours. If you are like me that is capable but not some construction worker, and you are doing it by yourself, taking your time and triple measuring your stud locations, then this will be more like a day project (like 8 hours to install).

My husband took about four hours putting this up pretty much alone He needed help a few times and my teenage boys helped him It is super sturdy. Definitely helped us. Keep our garage organized. A great size, not too big and not too small and it has a very clean appearance to it offers exceptional stability, ensuring that your tools and equipment are securely held in place, even in a busy or high-traffic area. Versatility !

This is quite simple to install from your ceiling. My wife and I installed this using two ladders. We installed one 48”X 48” section at a time after placing the hanging brackets from the ceiling. This unit is “Sturdy” and can be adjusted to any height from 20” down to 40” from the ceiling. All “Hardware” is included. Love the “Design” for “Organizing our garage. The “White color matches the white interior of our garage.

This is the best overhead storage rack I have built yet (6 so far). 1. The rack floor is welded in place, making moving items in storage way easier. 2. The directions are clear except for one small exception. 3. It is huge compared to others at the3 same price point. 4. It is on sale, at least 30% lower than comparable brands. 5. It gives you a maximum 40" storage height, larger than others. Tips & tricks: 1. Use Allen head/socket adapters on your power tools to speed up the install. 2. Read the directions through a couple times, the brackets only allow for 24" rafter spacing max., barely. 3. Get a friend or two to help set up the bottom rack to brackets as it is a little flimsey in the middle until attached. 4. Use a chalk line to snap the 4' offset line from the wall. You can aly out the complete rack on the floor and use a plumb bob to locats on the ceiling as well, since laying out on the ceiling is a pain! Good Luck!

I was very happy with these. They are sturdy and fit very well in the garage. I bought this and the 3x6. Both were solid and has helped clean up the garage tremendously. It takes a bit of practice but once you get the hang of it and the right tools, it's pretty easy to assemble and install (i'm not a handy man). The 3x6 shelf can be raised on your own but you should ask or help for the 4x8, the shelf is quite heavy.

The storage rack provides good amount of storage in a garage with limited area but high ceiling. The rack is well made and the parts are of good quality, but it doesn't look sturdy. I will not load it to maximum capacity of 600lb. The unit lack lateral bracing which makes it wobbly when adding or removing items from storage. This also makes it vulnerable if your are in an area prone to earthquakes. For installation I couldn't trust the stud finder to locate the studs as the insulation in the ceiling causes the stud finder get confused. The main anchors that are connected to the ceiling joists are large and they must be installed exactly on the centerline of the joists otherwise their load capacity could be compromised. I had to locate the exact location of joists by poking holes in the ceiling drywall with a small nail. I plan to add some bracing to the overall installation to make it less wobbly and hope that the manufacturer adds these bracing as standard items.

Installation was straightforward, but one of the screw heads snapped off while I was hand tightening it. Edit: Thanks to Fleximounts for quickly resolving my issue. Apart from that one screw, everything is very sturdy and good quality.
