The Fiskars SoftGrip Detail Craft Knife is an excellent addition to my desk essentials. As someone who has always appreciated the utility of an "exacto" knife for opening packages and completing small tasks, this knife is a noticeable upgrade. One of its standout features is the orange SoftGrip handle, which makes it incredibly easy to spot amidst the clutter of my desk drawer. Unlike traditional craft knives that blend in with pens, screwdrivers, and other tools, this knife is always easy to locate, saving me time and frustration. The razor-sharp blade is as effective as any precision knife I’ve used, and I love the weight and balance it provides. It feels sturdy and reliable in hand, making it ideal for tasks requiring fine control. The inclusion of a blade cover is a thoughtful addition, ensuring safety by preventing accidental cuts when reaching into the drawer. Overall, the Fiskars SoftGrip Detail Craft Knife combines practicality, comfort, and safety in a way that truly enhances its usability.

Of all the precision craft knifes out there that I’ve tried, this scores higher across the board. While not being ‘heavy’, it does have a really nice weight to it and it fits the hand quite well. Which is a help when trying to create a tight & precise cut. It feels like you’re holding onto something substantial which was always something I faulted ‘Brand X’ about. Even though theirs are also metal, they’re so light I often felt distracted thinking the tube handle was about to fail. Even when it wasn’t a heavy cut. Even one stray thought about a scalpel blade flying out of a handle is enough to degrade your precision. Perhaps not a HUGE problem - but one I seemed to have. The orange grip is also really comfortable. Cushioned enough to save your fingers from fatiguing. Yet the feel of the blade isn’t affected at all. Changing the blades is a snap. It’s a tried and true design, essentially a collet, which secures the blade very well. Even if you’re not into craft work, everyone needs this sort of knife occasionally. My ‘craft’ is guitar building & I use this several times a day. This Fiskars option is superior AND at a competitive price. Usually lower than any of the others. Kind of a no-brainer.

I've been trying to find a nice exacto blade handle with little luck, but this is the perfect fit. Nice solidly built metal handle, with a really good feeling grip section. Also for just $6 it's a steal. I will say caution when inserting a blade, if you don't get it in just right, and tight it can come out even when tightened, so just a bit of required caution.

This tool has proven to be incredibly beneficial for me due to its lightweight design and precise cutting abilities. Its sharp edge demands caution, so it's essential to store it safely away from children. Overall, it performs exceptionally well!

It was disconcerting when the blade slipped out while I was using the knife. Sharp as expected though, and then some. So just be certain the blade is well seated and secure. Given there are no safety mechanisms at all, and your fingers will likely be close to the blade, you should check the blade seating often. Because it could be very easy to loosen the blade accidentally, 4 stars.

I whittle every single day. The thought of going back to screw-type blade holders is chilling. I change blades multiple times in any given project and these are quick and easy. Pull out and down on the back to release the blade, pop in a new one and you are ready to go while the creative juices are still flowing. They are plastic and not nearly as strong as the aluminum tubes that make up the other types of craft knives. But they are very affordable. Until an improvement comes along, I get what I pay for and am extremely satisfied.

Great hoppy knife! The shape and size of the body definitely helps hold off fatigue longer, and it holds onto the blades much better than your traditional type hobby knife handles. The quick change feature for swapping out blades is a nice addition aswell!

I bought this to replace an Olfa which I found to be poorly balanced/weighted. It was otherwise a great knife. The Olfa blades are second to none and I use them in my Fiskars knife. My only complaint about this knife, is the lack of an anti-roll nub . As a result, I've already had my knife roll off my hobby desk and onto my lap, resulting in a stab of my inner thigh, mere inches from "Mr Happy". This knife will accept all standard hobby blades, like X-acto, etc. Agaain, heft/balance/weight makes this an excellent knife.
