I recently downsized and moved into a house with a relatively small refrigerator/freezer without an automatic ice machine. There's also not a cold water line behind the refrigerator. I'll admit that plumbing is not my forte so even if I had a water line nearby, I still would need assistance installing an automatic ice machine in my freezer. I was also concerned about how much space an ice maker would take up in my freezer. I asked my brother-in-law for advice and he informed me that they make affordable counter-top automatic ice makers that need to be manually filled as needed. Fortunately, I have a good amount of counter space so I invested in a Frigidaire counter top ice maker. It works great and I don't mind using a pitcher to periodically fill the tank on the ice maker. It's also portable so I can relocate it to a different location as long as there's a receptacle nearby. So now I have the convenience of an automatic ice maker which was the one luxury that didn't come with the house. I'm also pretty certain that there's not enough space for a refrigerator with a door mounted ice maker/dispenser. I'm writing a review of this product for people like me that didn't know counter top ice makers were available and do an adequate job as long as the user doesn't mind manually filling it. Follow-up review. This unit was easy enough to install and follow the instructions. I noticed the morning after having a container of nice sized ice cubes that all the cubes melted. I'm a rather impatient person and I didn't bother to see if there were troubleshooting instructions for this model. As far as I was concerned, the unit should have remained cold enough to keep the cubes usable as needed. I like the idea of having a counter top ice maker that plugs in and only needs to be manually fed with cold water as needed. I also bought this unit since I have had good success with Frigidaire equipment in the past. I expected this unit to be plug and play. My previous house refrigerator/freezer had a cold water line at the back and of course a receptacle. All I needed to do was make the two connections and shortly thereafter I had an automatic door ice maker/cold water dispenser. I don't even use a lot of ice so I'm not sure what compelled me to buy a counter-top automatic ice maker. Regardless, I can't recommend this model as the ice cubes melted pretty much as soon as I had a full container of ice cubes. BTW, there isn't a door automatic ice maker on the refrigerator in my new house nor is there a cold water line behind the refrigerator made for connecting to some sort of automatic ice maker. Plumbing is not my forte but I wasn't against the idea of a portable counter top unit. Perhaps you will purchase this unit and have better success. My only recommendation is to read the instructions which I never bothered to do.

My refrigerator’s icemaker is always freezing up or needing repair. This countertop icemaker works great, and has been running daily for months! Fast and reliable, and provides plenty of ice. I love it!

This is a sleek ice maker. I watched all of the videos showing how it worked and that is why I chose this model. But, when it makes ice, only the front row falls off. The back row collects more water and builds ice and I have to let is melt to start a new batch. I get enough ice for my drinks but I wish the back row would drop smoothly like the front row. I'm not returning it. I can live with it.

Needed an ice maker for my holiday dinner and this product did not disappoint at all. Easy to set up. Just plug up, add water and designate the ice size you want. It processes ice fairly quickly and with minimal noise. Great purchase.

Ran this unit for 6 months and fan motor started to fail. Called customer service and they said to disconnect unit for a few hrs and reconnect it. Worked for a few days and again it failed after 2 days. Reach out to customer service they had me fill out warranty form that took days to get, send them all the information they need, submit the forms via email took a few days to get a response with I have to pack it nicely and ship back to them on my dime. Packing for this unit and shipping is a 3rd of the original price. DONT BUY IT JUNK

This Frigidaire EFIC123-SS (at cost+tax was $97.40) arrived today on 2/22/2024. It is a replacement to Frigidaire EFIC189-Silver that failed on 2/20/2024. The EFIC189-Silver (at cost+tax was $140.71) replaced an Igloo ICEB26SS on 2/16/2022 after it failed. The Igloo was purchased on 2/21/2020 (at cost+tax was $128.51). Which replaced an Ice maker bought in SAM's for $79.99 cost (add 8.25% tax) around 2/15/2018. All broke from a plastic gear. All have the same internal features. All made in China. This new version EFIC123-SS was built on 1/2024. I predict it too will fail within two years or sooner as it has very cheap plastic compared to the other three. However, I did notice that this machine is lighter weight and it has many more vent holes such that you can "see" the internal compressor and wiring (not very water splash protected) where others were more sealed. I doubt the heat caused any of the past ice makers to break. It was the cheap plastic gear inside it. Each had a plastic tooth part and plastic shavings floating in the water the day it broke. Oh, interesting fact Frigidaire does not carry replacement parts for their compact counter top ice makers. That means these are meant to be throwaway appliances. So no matter the brand ... if it looks and feels like these three and you really need a counter top space saving ice maker (like I do) ... buy the cheapest Brand ... After all, they all are Built in China and made with Chinese Parts. As I can guarantee as long as that gear is plastic, and once a tooth chips off, that ice maker is toast. Now the good thing, this particular little machine looks like you can open it up compared to the older models and just might be able to replace that stupid little gear. So no guarantees how long these last (averaging 2 years for me, very consistently, different brands too). Good luck with the "insurance" not worth the hassle or money spent, but that's my opinion. Knowing my luck the machine will crap out the day after it expires. I'll be back to review in 2 years. Will it last or crap out just as all of these style ice makers do. Love the ice they produce, saves me freezer space, and have ice 24/7 and fast ... until that pesky gear breaks.

Used this for about 8 months now and no problems. Does its expected job of making ice and does it fairly quickly. Nice finish and looks good on the counter. Only downside if any is that if you plan on transferring and storing the ice in your freezer, the ice is a little wet so it will likely clump and freeze so that you have to break it apart before use.

Well we have had this for a month now and must say it works great. We always have ice on hand. The best thing is that it just works. No messing around filling trays for the freezer. We are very happy how it is working. If your like our house the freezer always has no space and you want to have ice on hand I strongly recommend this.

El producto no funciona correctamente y no se puede devolver o reembolso, solo realiza una tanda de hielos y deja de funcionar por horas.

I did my research, checked the ratings, and at the end of the day it just doesn't work like it's supposed to. At first, it worked wonders. We use filtered water because it's what we prefer. It's a quick ice machine, the ice tastes like ice, and is as hard as a cube of ice should be, meaning that it melts at the speed it a cube that small of size would take to melt in a glass of water. There are two sizings S and L, but to be honest, right from the start, I saw no difference between the two. Unfortunately about two months in, the machine started having issues. After a cycle or two of ice, the system sucks in the water as it should but as soon as the freezing process begins, it stops working and the water just drains out back into the tub. The "Add Water" light is always turning on, despite being full. We've emptied it. It's cleaned regularly... it's just not working! I'm at the point where some mornings I spend an hour plugging and unplugging the machine so it resets, making enough ice for the kids before they go to school. As much as we love having ice on demand, this is the most frustrating product I've purchased in a very long time. Bottom line, don't waste your money.
