This is very breathable and cool for a little cooler weather. It fits great, very soft, good quality. If you want more cold protection, buy a winter one. This is good protection in warmer weather and protects identity as well.

An average balaclava. Inexpensive. Simply a sheer material, no fleece. Wore at Whiteface in Lake Placid temp was 6 degrees F. Felt comfortable under helmet and kept face/head/ears warm as it captures warm breath and could breathe just fine. Only drawback was it felt a little too loose and roomy for my average sized head and face. Wish it was a little more form fitting and snug as some cold air while skiing can sneak in gaps around face opening.

My daughter was Uzi from murder drones. She told me at the last minute before Halloween she wanted a mask to cover her face. That's where this mask came in. It worked great for the costume, it's stretchy and durable, I was afraid of her not being able to breathe in it but she could with no problem. It is a slightly on the thicker size but not too thick, I actually wish they had these in more colors for the winter, but keep in mind they're not that warm to wear by themselves for the winter.

I've used a lot of ski masks, I always find it oppressive when moisture sticks to the mouth and nose area on the inside. But with this, it remains dry even when exerting yourself. Because it's so thin, I would use this in the summer, rather than the winter, but it would still help in cold conditions. Very good moisture vapor permeability.
