I bought this brand because my Mom had one and hers had broken (she had it for awhile). Read the instructions and make sure you have air out before turning it on (there's youtube videos on this) but it works really well. It's not really designed for large spaces because it will take you awhile but we did a large carport area in sections over several days and it did the job. It has 3 spray nozzles but we only used one for this particular job. The nozzle for the soap would be good for washing your car because it's not as strong a stream. There is a nozzle that makes a more concentrated stream but we didn't have use for it this time that we used it. We ran it for several hours straight with no issues. Had plenty of electrical line and plenty of hose line for what we needed to do. Easy to move around as it has wheels but we did not try and pull it around like some of those that are lower to the ground. I didn't feel like we needed to move it all that much to cover the areas we were working on. The carport was heavily covered in algae so it did take smaller stronger sprays to get the algae off. In the one area not exposed to the sun, it went much faster to get the layers of dust off and some stains. We used a degreaser (not through the detergent bin) to get some of the more heavily stained areas clean. I haven't used any other brands but I can recommend this one as being sturdy and stores super nice with everything fitting in the device itself.

About The DetailsReviewed in the United States on September 16, 2023

Karcher K1700 pressure washer: Assembly is very easy -- wheels and handle. If you just use the supplied hose then screw it on to the outlet and onto the spray nozzle. Screw the garden hose adapter on and screw a garden hose on. Plug it in and it should work, mine did. I bought a Karcher because a review by Pan the Organizer who said his Karcher K5 lasted 10 years and still works but it was time to get a new pressure washer. As I recall he thought Karcher had a superior pump. I watched a couple reviews of the K-1700 as well. So, as I had no idea and the K-1700 seemed what I was looking for, I bought it. I have light work -- a small cement patio, some siding and vehicles. Note that the high-pressure fittings are M22-14 not M22-15 as many electric pressure washers use so I ended up ordering another set. I knew the foam cannon used M22-14 when I bought it. I didn't see any reference to the fittings in the Karcher manual or brochure. I did see that some Karcher products fit the K2 or K5 but not the K-1700 but was left to assume why. I guess Karcher wants us to buy their brand. I added some quick disconnect fittings. I had a leak on the appliance end of the pressure hose. It seemed the o-ring on the hose is too large and was pushed down when I inserted/screwed the quick disconnect on. I took an o-ring off another fitting and the same thing happened. I then added a garden hose washer to the supplied pressure hose fitting after cutting it down so it fit and replaced the o-ring with a piece of Teflon packing "string" which fit into the o-ring groove perfectly. I used silicon grease to get it to stay put. No leaks. I was testing with a car wash foam cannon which worked very well and produced a persistent snow foam coating. The pressure hose went onto the pressure washer without any leaks. The garden hose adapter leaked some, but I didn't tighten with a wrench which I'll do next time. I ordered another quick connect set for the high pressure fitting on the K-1700 and a couple different sets of o-rings to have on-hand. The electric cord wraps nicely on the supplied handle arms. CONS: 1. Nozzle storage is limited to two regular nozzles and one hybrid rotating type nozzle (as supplied). So, I don't have a place to put other nozzles except in a bag in the storage box. 2. No built-in good way to keep the supplied pressure hose coiled neatly on the unit. The hose is a little stiff and making it fit in the storage box may not work well or conveniently and being slick plastic will likely push out. I added a piece of PVC pipe that went through the handle and that keeps the pressure hose coiled up around the handle and the storage bin. I'll fit it with some closed cell foam to keep it in place as I want to be able to remove it. My initial impression is that I think the supplied hose will work for me but time will tell if a longer, more flexible hose will be needed. The K1700 seems like a good unit overall particularly for the price. I cannot see paying lots for something I don't expect to use that often. Winter storage: per the manual, be sure to run it out of water. It seems that water runs out when I tilt it to the inlet fitting but the manual said to run it until just out of water. I think I can handle that.

I have had numerous pressure washers and this is a great little unit. Works well on cleaning walks and pavers, and with a little extra effort, on cleaning tire marks off a concrete driveway. I did not use any detergent, just water on these projects. I ordered some detergent so will see how that improves cleaning. I considered the K1700 Cube for the reduced space it would take in storage. The machines are identical in cleaning power, but I chose the wheeled model for two reasons. First was the cord wrap which keeps the cord and GFCI plug high and dry, while the Cube model requires you store the cord in the same bucket as the hose. Not a great idea in my opinion and others complain that they do not fit well in the smaller bucket. Secondly, the storage bucket is larger, making coiling the hose easier. There is plenty of room for the hose, trigger handle and the lance. Plus, there is enough room in the bucket for a 25 foot collapsible hose too. Keeps it all together and easy to transport wherever you like. And the bucket is removable for cleaning if needed. I found three negatives thus far. First the "removable" soap dispenser is not really removable. The dispenser container has a small barbed outlet tube covered with a spring at the bottom. The tube is not long enough to allow the container to be easily removed and a pinch clip needs to be released to disconnect the tube from the container. I don't have huge hands, but it seems you really need tiny hands to disconnect the tube and reconnect it. Tried it once and it will not be disconnected again. A longer tube would be a much better design. While I suppose you could add another longer tube section with a barb connection, I do not think consumers should have to retrofit purchases to work properly. Second negative is the GFCI configuration. It has two prongs rather than the usual three so I can only presume the pressure washer electrical components are double insulated. If you have the newer outdoor outlets, you know they are recessed in the weather resistant box, so you may or may not be able to plug in the GFCI to the outlet. Use of extension cords is not suggested so I have a short 24 inch three prong heavy duty cord that works so it can be plugged in to any outlet. Third negative, if you want to call it that, is the lack of multiple nozzles included. You do get a soap nozzle and a high pressure nozzle along with the turbo nozzle. But, since these washers do not have adjustable pressure settings, what about a gentler or more powerful spray? Not available unless you purchase additional spray tips, which I did. Amazon sells a set of 5 spray tips for under $8 which work perfectly, giving you anything from a pinpoint to a fan spray. Conclusion is that this is a great machine for all around use at the house. 1700 PSI seems to be just about right for most cleaning chores. I know this is not a 3000 PSI gas washer, and I have had those too. But the gas storage, gas odor and inconvenience of maintenance, oil changes, etc outweigh the slight inconvenience of the electric cord for me.
