I use this mostly to get oil temps for cooking. I had other kitchen thermometers but though the rod was metal, the top was plastic and could not hold up to the heat. I've found a few other uses for it too though. Works well and appears accurate.

Honestly I don't really have a complaint about this, I do wonder if it's getting accurate temperatures at times, but I'm pretty sure it is. Especially considering I have a temp sticker on the side of my tank and when I measure the temperature with the gun on that side of the tank it says usually the same thing or around the same number as the temperature sticker. Really good price on this Thermo gun, would recommend for those with reptiles!

I felt compelled to purchase a infrared thermometer because we have been trying a pizza oven and needed something to be able to tell when the stone is back up to temperature - it fluctuates a lot when cooking. So, I wanted for Prime Big Deal Days and picked this one, mostly because it was a very fair price (less than $20), it was capable of reading over ~800 degrees (not all of them are) and, well, I thought it looked cool As soon as it got here I opened it, installed the batteries, which came with the thermometer (nice!), and started checking the temperature of things and, from what I can tell, the thing is pretty accurate. While the battery compartment door feels like it could break off in the future if I'm not careful, the thermometer feels like good quality and the screen was easy to read. It has more features than I understand (like being able to measure emissivity ... whatever that it), but it was easy to use for pointing at the grill and finding out what the temperature was. It does not seem to be quite as accurate as the $200 thermometer that my tradesman friend has, but it is more than accurate for what most any Harry or Hannah Homeowner will need for projects around the house. So far seems like a great purchase.

Easy to use. We have found several uses for it like checking the temperature on an outside railing surface to be sure it was not too cold to paint , baby formula, and baby bath water temperature, as well as more conventional uses like making candy or checking oil temp for making popcorn. Well made. Easy to read.Great stocking stuffer for the person who has everything.

Awesome Unit. I'm not a carpenter, or trades person. I just wanted a Thermo Gun so I can make sure how efficient my home is or where we may need to concern ourselves with. Easy to use and works great. I was concerned about how much draft may be coming through the main outside doors compared to inside the house. It's a great unit for this. Even tested the windows. Great purchase and reasonably priced
