When it comes to safety it is always easy to justify the price of something. I will say that these detectors seem to increase in price every time I have to replace one though. They seem to need replaced about every 2 years as their filters will no longer work. I have been buying this brand of detectors for over 10 years and they always seem to do the job well, which is what ultimately counts. Easy to install and very fast shipping too.

I had to buy the same ALARM that I had previously to this one so that I could just snap it in.. It seems to work I guess I don’t know. I clicked it and made a beeping sound, and I almost went deaf.. One time I was grilling some meat on my iron pan and forgot to put the vent n and then also. I forgot to turn the heat down, say burn the meat burn the pan and the damn alarm went off crazy. I thought they were gonna find me $1000 if they say that the fire department fines you if you set off an alarm, but I think that’s only for my hallway. Check your HOA also might be subject to a huge Fine. If you set up the alarm in the hallway, so get one of these so you know, beforehand doesn’t get out of hand.

This is a good quality fire alarm with smoke and carbon monoxide detection, running on battery (and not hard-wired). But be warned: if you're purchasing a detector so you're home can pass a fire marshal inspection, you should triple-check all their requirements. Our fire marshal requires detectors also provide a voice alert, and this model detector does not (even though it costs over $40).

Just found out the Kiddie. smoke alarm does not fit into the holder that gets screwed into the wall. Need a new Kiddie unit. Even though the return period is over.

at around 2am the alarm started chirping, I got up swapped the batteries (that was one month after purchase. Around 2am the alarm started chirping again, I wanted to toss it then but I was using rechargeable batteries and there was reason to beleive they weren't fully charged or something (that was the 2nd month after purchase) THIRD TIMES A CHARM... only had this for 3 - 4 months and it did it again around 2AM .. why doesn't it chirp during the day? I'm hear all day and it simply does not. There's no explanation other than poor craftsmanship! .. The company using a 2 cent diod rather than the one which costs them a nickle so they can save 3 cents most likely .. JUNK - CHANGING BRANDS!!
