For reference, I purchased a size Large for my 30 lb medium sized shepherd mix (circumference measurements: neck = 17", chest = 23"), and the fit was great -- not too loose, but not too tight. After my puppy got fixed, he hated the cone and got so depressed wearing it. I purchased this recovery suit for him, and it was night and day. Rolling it up and securing it with the velcro so he could go potty was super quick and easy. He was able to play and run around comfortably in it, whilst also effectively preventing him from licking his stitches. We used it again months later when he was obsessively licking and irritating an infected cut he'd gotten on his backside. Highly recommend.

These are such a great alternative to the cone. Our pup got neutered and we needed to cover the incision for 7-10 days while it healed. These fit perfect, were comfortable for him and worked well. It was nice to be able to roll them up and velcro them out of the way for potty breaks. Would recommend to anyone as an alternative to the cone.

Great idea. Worked really well for a day, until my dog, or it may have been her sister(!), chewed off the velcro closure. Also, it's a little stretchy for my dog as she's very broad chested and it tends to slide back on her, making it loose around the area it's supposed to protect. I've been using a couple strips of slightly stretchy cloth to tie around her chest where the velcro closure used to be and around the back where her incision is. That works.

Omg! If you have a female dog that is getting spayed or is recovering from abdominal surgery, you should buy one of these “dog onesies” as we called it, lol! Our female dog was recovering from being spayed and she absolutely hated wearing the cone of shame. She couldn’t get comfortable while wearing the rigid plastic cone on her head (first time wearing a cone) and she was miserable. After about the first 45 minutes of wearing the cone we realized we needed to look into other options for our girl to be able to recover comfortably. The vet had mentioned that our dog could wear a body suit instead of a cone, if she would tolerate it. At that time of loading her into the car to leave the vet, we sort of laughed and didn’t pay much attention to it. I mean, who has ever heard of a body suit for a dog? Well, it was not long and we were searching the internet for just such a suit. We felt bad enough that our extremely high energy, young playful pup was dealing with recovery from surgery, and the many restrictions that she would have to accept, temporarily. She is so energetic and playful, always jumping around the house, inside and out, and always with a toy in her mouth. Toys are such an important part of her daily life/ routine , and we had to take them all away for about 14 days. The vet told us we had to remove all toys that would encourage excitement and jumping/ playing , in order for her to completely heal without any complications from stitches coming open. Our dog had to take doggie downers (prescription that made her less active) to help keep her calm and more relaxed. Even still, keeping her calm and quiet/relaxed was very difficult. With her wearing this “doggie onesie” however, she was finally able to fully relax to sleep. She could not get comfortable enough to fully relax while wearing the cone of shame. While wearing the onesie, she could lick the fabric, but not get to her actual stitches. She excepted the strange new concept of wearing dog clothing and never tried to get it off by herself. Maybe part of this is because we constantly made over her and how cute she was in her dog onesie, lol. The material is very soft and stretchy, just like human baby onesies, lol. The Velcro closure is very strong and secure, yet also very easy to undo and refasten. As you can tell by some of the pics I added to this review, the onesie (Aka dog recovery suit) we purchased did not fit our dog perfectly, because our dog is a mixed breed with a longer body. Our dog is about the size of a full grown Labrador, but taller and longer bodied. Her nickname is stretch, because she the size of a Lab with about 7 inches in length, stretched out in her body. As a result, part of the time her lower neck/ almost shoulder area exceeded past the head opening of the dog suit. Thank goodness for the very stretchy fabric. The dog suit did not fit her perfectly, but it worked and we got through the 2 weeks of recovery. This purchase/item was one of the best things we have bought off Amazon. It did what it was supposed to. It aided in a more comfortable recovery for our dog, not to mention help us to keep our sanity during the process. I highly recommend buying this product if you ever have to get your female dog spayed. Also, I think it might be a good option for female dogs to wear while in heat, to help keep your house cleaner. Could probably work as sort of a dog diaper in that situation. Note: When your dog has to go potty and/or poop you really need to undo the Velcro closure and either roll it up and back (on top of their back) and refasten Velcro holding the fabric out of the way , or , remove onesie temporarily and then put back on. You may want to consider purchasing two of these. That way if one gets dirty or yucky you can wash it in washing machine (recommend air drying) and still keep one on your dog while they are in recovery.

Goes on very easily but it’s too big. I originally bought a medium since that’s what my dog wears in everything else (diapers and a sweater for when it got really cold outside) and it was too short. The tail hole wouldn’t even reach her tail. So I returned it and ordered a large. It reaches her tail and it’s able to be put on, but it comes right off since it’s too big for her legs. I put it on her and within 5 minutes of her rolling around on her bed it came half way off. My fiance put it on her before we went to bed the other night and when we woke up it was completely off her. Very disappointed because I thought it would work so she wouldn’t lick her stitches after she got fixed. She’s a corgi mixed with something else (we’ve had her for a week and the previous owner had no records of anything about her) and she’s 16 inches long from the back of her neck to her tail.

Arrived the day my puppy got spayed that morning. Went by the size chart and focused on the back length and chest girth. Her weight 16.4 lbs chest 20 inches and neck 15 inches and back length about 12-13 inches. I took in consideration the other reviews regarding neck stretching. I didn't want it too long and since there was stretch in the material the 19.3 chest for the small size was doable. I ordered 2 the light pink and the pink recovery suit in small very cute pattern for female puppy. They fit perfect and the neck area did stretch which was good for my Frenchie. I'm still working on potty training she has a few rare indoor accidents even after doing her business outside but with this surgical suit on her she seems to now tell me she has to go outside. I love that you can roll up the back end up when they go potty and secure back down when finished. She doesn't pull or scratch her suture site or even try to take the suit off. As long as there are no sleeves on her hind legs she is fine. Easy to put surgical suit on her because she is use to wearing a sweatshirt hoodie 24/7 during the winter months. The sweatshirt seems to help with her anxiety. The only time I have her wear the cone is in the crate while she sleeps at night so that I can sleep LOL Very happy with my purchases

This was very good quality. And my Baylee is very comfortable. It provided good incision protection from her surgery. And the print is adorable. Sizing was perfect. Baylee is about 12 lbs and I purchased a small.

My dog had major surgery and left her with a giant incision on her tummy. This product deterred her from biting at her incision. We tried many other things such as collars and cones, and she was so depressed when she was wearing those things. Eventually we tried this suit and it worked so well! It really stopped her from biting or licking her incision and she was finally able to heal up properly. When it first arrived I was discouraged because it looked very small and we have a hard time finding things that fit our dog properly. But it's supposed to be snug, and it actually fit her perfectly just follow the sizing chart that they give you. I highly recommend this product for anybody's dog that has had a recent surgery.

I got a size L for my 15kg female Staffordshire Bull Terrier & it fits like a glove. The velcro is super strong so she can’t get out of it. Its also really breathable. She can’t get to her wound; no matter how hard she tries. Its great when we take her outside to wee, as it just rolls up so she can go. Its also been helping with her allergies and losing hair. I highly recommend, plus, its super cute.

Not only did my little guy look absolutely adorable in this, it really did stop him from licking his stitches after getting neutered :) he was comfortable in it, and able to move around like normal, unlike the standard cone.

Quite a big difference between L/XL. The neck and arm holes of the XL are very big but the L is tight. I’m returning the L, kept the XL as it fits better. Overall great idea and the quality of the product is great! And much better than wearing a cone!

It fits my cavalier well, is very comfortable for her and keeps her spay incision clean, dry and out of reach for her licking. These are way better than those Elizabethan collars.
