Product Description
· YOUR GO-TO DUTCH OVEN: A flawless pairing of form and function that doesn't quit. The Lodge Dutch Oven not only makes your kitchen look good but is an enameled cast iron classic great for preparing and serving memorable meals. Broil, braise, bake or roast your favorite meals in the oven up to 500 Degree F. · WHAT IS PORCELAIN ENAMEL ON CAST IRON. It is glass that becomes bonded to the cast iron at high temperatures. A particulate of glass, called frit, is applied to the cast iron vessel and then baked at temperatures between 1200 and 1400° F. The glass frit melts and fuses to the cast iron, forming a bond. Porcelain enamel on cast iron is heat tolerant and impervious to water and other consumables. · EASY TO COOK AND CLEAN: The porcelain enameled interior has a smooth finish that minimizes sticking, promotes caramelization and resists staining. Although enameled cast iron is dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water and a nylon scrub brush is recommended to keep your Dutch Oven in tip top shape · HEAT RETENTION: The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating throughout both the bottom and sidewalls. The tightly fitting lid seals in moisture for scrumptious pot roast, stews or a large batch of beans. Our heat retention also reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking. · FAMILY-OWNED. Lodge is more than just a business; it’s a family. The Lodge family founded the company in 1896, and they still own it today. From environmental responsibility to community development, their heads and hearts are rooted in America. Products made with non-toxic, PFOA & PTFE free material.

The 6 quart pot and lid showed up well packaged with zero defects and the Island Spice Red color is beautiful! Like one reviewer noted, the rim of the oven and the bottom rim of the lid doesn't have enamel, so I'll be sure and season/oil those very small areas and store with the lid protectors. I made chili in it cooking for several hours, and it performed perfectly with no hot spots, easy cleaning, etc. So far, I absolutely love this Dutch oven!

I purchased this Dutch oven when it was on sale as I've been wanting an enameled piece of cast iron for a while. The price was almost 50% when I bought it. It arrived as expected and was securely packaged. The color of the piece is consistent and solid throughout. My first meal prepared in it was a chicken in salsa verde dish. It was a one pot meal as I first browned the chicken breasts and then brought together the remaining ingredients on the range top before reintroducing the chicken to the oven and placing it all in the oven for 30 minutes. The Dutch oven performed as intended heating evenly and retaining warmth after removal from the oven. We weren't quite ready to eat when cooking time was complete and the meal remained nicely heated. This piece would also have been quite attractive to have moved to a dining table for serving if we had guests. Cleanup was very easy. The rubber "clips" that keep the lid above the rim of the oven when stored is a small matter but an appreciated one as it replaces any need to store a paper towel hanging out to wick moisture away form the inside during storage. All in all, this has been a very good addition to my cast iron collection.

Sure, I would own the over-priced brand that begins with an L if I was a millionaire, but I’m not. This I a beautiful alternative. Even heating and cooking. Plus easy clean up. I’ll be getting more pieces in the future.

Good sturdy enameled cast iron. I’ve used this Dutch oven at least 20 times since purchasing. Lamb shanks, chilli slow roasted shredded beef etc. This pot works great and is very sturdy. It’s thick and heavy and has a nice outer coating. I got the red one and it looks just like the images. I would say to try to clean this as soon as possible to prevent staining but it’s going to happen regardless. Overall, it’s been great to cook with and looks good too.

This is a gorgeous pot at an affordable price. I’m glad I bought it. Much larger than my other cast iron pots. It’s heavy and has a substantial enamel coat. With even heat distribution I think it will cook things nicely. A+ for this one.

It seemed to be a very nice dutch oven. But it was really too heavy/dangerous for my wife to use. Especially if you were to fill it up with hot liquid!

This is my fist dutch oven ever and I am over 50 years old. I love the teal color, it is more blue than green. Very good quality, no chipping, heavy pot and lid. You can brown the meat on the stovetop and then place in the oven. It cooks the food evenly and thoroughly. I made a beef bourguignon stew the first time and it is now my spouse's new favorite dish. The dutch oven locks in the flavors and everything I have made comes out so tender, not mushy like when using a crockpot. It is so easy to clean too! You do need to let it cool before washing. It says that in the instructions, but I wanted to mention it in my post. This is a must-buy for the Fall comfort-food season.

I’ve been on the fence for years about a dutch oven, mostly because of the expense. I couldn’t justify spending a couple hundred bucks on one. This dutch oven is very reasonably priced and is nice and heavy. It arrived nicely packaged and without any blemishes. It’s super convenient to use- it’ll go from the stovetop to the oven and back without a problem. My only regret is that I didn’t buy this sooner.

This Dutch Oven is a good size to have for stews, soups and for frying. I purchased it especially to use for frying, since I didn't want to overuse my Le Creuset Dutch Oven, which would be very expensive to replace. This is a very heavy pot though, so I keep it on my stove most of the time. It's a great value for the quality.

I purchased the 6qt enameled dutch oven in Caribbean Blue and am extremely happy with it. I have used it on the stove top and in the oven. This is the first enameled dutch oven that I have owned but I do own several other cast iron dutch ovens, mainly for camping and bread. Pros: looks great - the blue is very similar to the Le Creuset that I have good size for family off-white interior makes it easy to see what you are cooking retains heat very well cleans up easily great value for the money! heavy because it is cast iron, but not too heavy good fitting lid can handle high temperatures nice big handles good heat distribution Cons: I would have liked a less round bottom to increase cooking surface, but this really isn't a big problem. If you want a good sized, attractive enameled dutch oven and don't want to pay a premium price for a Le Creuset or a Staub, I can heartily recommend this Lodge!
