Afraid of the STINK many are complaining about? Okay...so I tried every single one of Lume's scents and hands down the BEST scent is the one I thought I would like the least, it's the Toasted Coconut. The other scents DO have a strange scent to them upon first application, but honestly ALL of them work, they really do. Here's the secret to using this product, RESIST the temptation to smell the cream straight out of the bottle. Just don't do it. Ewwww! You'll hate it! Instead, just ignore what your nose is telling you and put the stuff on! No! Don't smell your pits immediately! I told you not to! LOL! (I am serious don't do it!) Give it a try and trust the stuff will work and put your clothes on and get dressed. Later when you remove your clothing before bed that's the time to do your scent investigation. Or for the more adventurous among us, have someone else do the scent investigation for you. Sniff those pits or "other" places you chose to slather this stuff all over and I swear these places won't smell at all or they will have a soft lavender, coconut, or whatever scent you chose...even the non-scented one that smells downright putrefying right out of the bottle will not smell at all on your skin after wearing it awhile...instead you'll just be scent-free and smell-free. Give the underarms of your t-shirt a sniff after wearing it all day and you'll only smell lovely lavender, coconut, etc... In fact, this stuff works so well that I asked my husband to use it--on some of his other parts, and WOW holy guacamole am I a believer! ;) After THAT experience he is definitely motivated to use this stuff daily! (You just gotta reward good behavior!) LOL! Finally, to recap, DO NOT try to smell what you're looking for in a scent directly from the bottle or even right after you apply it... it needs time...seasoning for an hour or so, and then you'll be pleased as punch! Delay your need for instant fragrance gratification, modify your expectations for what scents you expect to come from the bottle and instead focus on the outcome (maybe focus on your WHY)...body odor will not occur if you use this after showering. We shower daily so I cannot comment on the 72hr nature of this body deodorant. Oh, and as far as scent choices go, I did try all of the scents and I like the way the toasted coconut mellows out to LATER, lavender mellows out nicely too so it's my second choice and for times that I don't want any scent as no scent is nice too, the unscented version is perfect (but only after time has passed on your skin...definitely a horrible smell after just applying it, but only if you stick your nose up to it. Ignore the scent at first, tell yourself it's going to be ok and let it ride... let it sit and do it's thing and it will disappear into a gorgeous UNSCENTED version. Just don't pay attention to how awful the unscented one is at first, buuuuut I promise you if you give it a few hours you won't be disappointed! I hope this helps you sift through your dilemma when you read ALL the reviews talking about the "stink"... patience grasshopper!

I got this with less than zero faith in its validity. This stuff works so good !!! You can put it all over ! All the cracks, crevices, folds and spots. Ladies don’t put it literally inside the 🐈⬛🐈🐈⬛🐈 in between the entrance is fine but no further. Now on the other side…get it up there 👆 all around and thoroughly rubbed in. You’ll want to wash thoroughly if you want it to last and be impenetrable. You’ll can’t have a sweaty bum and put this on and expect it to cover it up, it’ll just smell like sweaty bum and coconuts. Liek get in there when you wash, we all know that little area has wrinkles….make sure to wash scrub and get every crevice. That spot right under your tailbone in and above the crevice is a spot that hood swear and odor too, just as much as the spot below it, so make sure to scrub there too. You’ll only need a drop a little bigger than a pea…for the downstairs area and maybe just a tiny extra smear for extra protection in the back. But yes it lasts a very long time, if you’re gonna have a face near those areas this is a must have, it does have a weird after scent at first but it wears off and the intended fragrance remains. You can put it everywhere though too. Neck, pits, thighs, feet, underboob, and all the secret spots. definitely recommend…my favorite fragrance is the lavender one…the flower scented one is awful, it smells like grammas bathroom….anynifnthebflower scented ones smell like old gramma.

I've been using all natural deodorants for years now. Lume is hands-down the best one I've found. It doesn't stain my shirts, it's easy to apply, and it lasts pretty well (FYI, I only use it on my arm pits). My two cents on 3 things: 1) Smell. I started with the sampler pack. My favorite scent is the Toasted Coconut. After that, I prefer the Unscented. The Coconut starts out STRONG. I put it on one morning and my dad commented right after about how I was definitely prepared to hang out on the lake since I already put sunscreen on. After a while, I got sick of smelling like coconut so I purchased the Unscented. I definitely prefer Unscented on most days. However, if I'm aware I'm going to be extra smelly that day, I'll use the Coconut to help mask the BO instead. As far as the stuff smelling bad out of the bottle . . . I honestly don't think either of the scents smell bad right out of the bottle. Coconut is SUPER strong out of the bottle. Unscented has a smell, but it's not a bad one or a good one. It's very neutral. I did notice a slight undertone scent that I wasn't fond of when I was wearing the Coconut every day. That was part of the reason I switched to Unscented. Sometimes, our bodies react oddly to things. I haven't noticed the same weird smell since I began switching back and forth between Unscented and Coconut. 2) Longevity. I haven't figured this out yet. Some days, it barely lasts one day. Other times, I can go a whole second day and not get smelly. I think there are a few factors at play here: how much you're applying, letting it dry before putting clothes on, and how much sweating you're going to do that day. I think one of the mistakes I've made in the past is not letting the stuff dry on me before I put my shirt on. I would hope that it goes without saying, but if you're going to be sweating a ton (nerves, workouts, yard work), don't expect a miracle. You can sweat through this stuff if you sweat enough. It's just how natural deodorants work. This is definitely the best stuff I've run into so far though. Also, if you're eating a lot of onion or garlic, be prepared to be a little extra smelly. You might need a Coconut scent instead of an Unscented just for a little extra help. 3) The condition of the application area I only use this stuff as on my arm pits, so that's all i can offer advice on. One thing I learned over the years using natural deodorants is that the start of your underarms makes a HUGE difference when it comes to BO. The best result is when you're clean shaven and freshly washed. Here are those steps in more detail: Step 1: shave your arm pits. The hair lends itself to capturing the bacteria that leads to BO. If your pits aren't hairy - persistent BO isn't as much of an issue. I shave at least twice a week. If the hairs get too long, I tend to be smellier. Step 2: Wash your arm pits before applying. With most natural deodorants, the goal is to create a sort of "seal" on your skin so the bacteria under your arm doesn't react with your sweat and you start to smell. If you apply it on top of dirty skin (skin that already has the odor causing bacteria there) then you're not creating a seal against BO - you're just . . . doing nothing really. You're still going to smell. Lume might be a good enough product to not need this step, but after years of washing my pits before applying deodorants, I'm not willing to give up this step. Every thing helps. Final thoughts: Try the sample sizes. Clean your under arms. Wash your clothes (turns out clothes I wore before I began Lume had some latent bacteria on them that started smelling when I began sweating while wearing Lume. I'm trying to remember to wash those sweaters and dresses I only wear once or twice a year).

Impressive product and service. I had used the product before and decided to re-order it. I really liked the speed with which I received it, the packaging and the nice note inside thanking me for choosing their company. A class act!

Breathe through your mouth during application as it’s a vile smell prior to drying, but if you can forge forward through the stinky application, the smell disappears after the product dries. For my armpits, I wait 5 minutes before putting on my shirt and that’s ample time for it to absorb into my skin and dry. It works if you’re patient. If you apply it in a hurry and throw on your clothes, you’ll smell the stench of the cream all day because essentially your smelling it on your clothing and you’ve not allowed it time to work its magic into your skin. After a full day of hiking and sweating, I came home to family and friends who were dumbfounded by how fresh I smelled. I highly recommend this unscented body deodorant!
