Talk about convenience without effort! This tiny but mighty tool does all the work. It functions through Bluetooth so there’s no need to peek, poke, or punish those expensive meats. It works with your device so you always know the cooking progress, current temperature and estimated time for perfection. But that’s not all it does! Oh no! It also guides you through the resting process so you’ll be sure to keep all those delicious juice’s married to the meat. Hands down the best meat thermometer. Just make sure you follow the instructions for use and care so you can enjoy that cocktail and visit with friends while the MEATER does all work!

I used the meater on my Thanksgiving turkey and it came out perfectly juicy and on time with the sides. It is so easy to use and let me keep an eye on the temperature throughout the cook. I wish I works have bought this sooner!!

Fish, steak, pork... PERFECT! I am not a cook. I wouldn't know how long is too long for the different cuts of meat. The guide on the app makes it perfect. Although it does sometimes loose connection between the meater and the phone. Not enough to mark down a rating.

My husband bought me the original Meater for Christmas a few years ago, and I returned it since the range was poor and it didn't work inside most of my appliance. I have since bought the Meater Plus and I love it. Although some of my appliance have built in probes, some of them don't. Although I do have an Instant Read probe that I still use to verify doneness of proteins, the Meater Plus is so much easier to use and you don't have to constantly check the food so it doesn't get over or undercooked. I am an experienced cook, but as you know foods can look done on the outside, but you can't see how well done they are on the inside. This Meater Plus is the perfect solution for perfectly cooked proteins and other foods. So what do I love about the Meater Plus? 1 - It works using an app that can be downloaded for either phones or tablets using Android or IOS operating systems. 2 - It easily connects using Bluetooth and the Meater cloud through your router. 3 - In the app settings, you can set your preferences for the various alarms. 4 - When a done temperature preference is set in the app for a cook, the app will let you know when the food is done, and allow for a resting period when the temperature will increase. So, for example, if you want a medium rare steak and set the temperature for 130 degrees, the app will tell you the steak is done at 125 degrees and allow for a 5 minute resting period that the temperature will increase to 130 degrees. This means perfectly done proteins every time. 5 - You can choose a preset in the app, and then modify it to your preference. 6 - This probe works well to monitor food inside any oven and even in cookers like the Ninja Speedi, Ninja grills, and pressure cookers. 7 - Cooking progress can be monitored wherever you can take your phone or tablet in the house. You don't have to stay in the kitchen. 8- Works with rotisseries where wired probes aren't practical. 9 - Can be connected to Alexa for notifications. 10 - The base unit is powered by an "A" battery, and pressing a button lets you know if the battery is still good. The probe is charged in the base unit. 11 - The base unit is magnetized so it can be stored on the side of any metal appliance. This means not having to find it in a cabinet or drawer. I have two of these, and keep them on the side of my Anova oven so they are always handy. I have used this Meater Plus in my ovens, the Ninja Speedi, and in my pressure cookers with great results. I have the app on my phone, and can take my phone in the family room while I watch TV and still monitor the progress of my food cooking. I also like the display of the ambient temperature. This tells you whether your oven is actually getting to the temperature you set it to. In my experience, many ovens never reach the temperature you set, so trying to estimate when your food will be cooked is all guesswork. The Meater Plus takes the guesswork out of cooking. Once you set a done temperature, the app estimates when your food will be fully cooked. This make is so much easier to make sure all of the other components of your meal will be done and hot at the same time. No matter how experienced you are in cooking, there is always a certain amount of guesswork in knowing when foods are cooked to the preferred doneness. The Meater Plus eliminates some of the guesswork. I should also mention that the range of the Meater Plus is greater if you remove the probe from the holder before opening the app. This was mentioned by one other reviewer. UPDATE 11/14/24: I purchased 2 of these Meaters 2 years ago and I still love them. As mentioned previously, the probe should be removed from the charger before opening the app to increase the range of the probes. In the last 2 years, I have used these probes in a few ovens and pressure cookers as well as outdoor ovens and smokers. I have never been disappointed with the performance of these probes. What I love about the Meater is:: 1) The charging units for the probes are magnetic. So, I can store them on the side of an oven where they are kept handy. 2) The app is so easy to use. Choose a meat you want to cook to get suggested internal temperatures for your choice, and still have the ability to modify the done temperature. You can also add and save your preferred temperatures for the meats you are cooking. 3) The app allows for carryover temperatures, so the app will say the food is done when it is 5 degrees less than the chosen temperature. 4) Whether cooking indoors or outdoors, I can monitor the progress of my cook inside and on the phone app. 5) The app tells you the ambient temperature of the oven or grill you are using. So, you know if the temperature is actually the temperature you set. 6) My favorite is that the app calculates the time it will take to finish cooking, and this estimate has been spot on. For me, this is important since I try to get sides for the meal done at the same time so everything is hot for serving. I hope this review was helpful for you. I will update this review if my opinion changes or I find more ways to use it.

Bought this a week ago. Used it straight out of the box and it worked great cooking a pork shoulder on my Weber Master Touch. Love that it tells you both the temperature of the meat and the ambient temperature but the best feature you get with this Meater+ is the software! The software basically cooks the meat for you. You set a desired temperature end goal and the software does everything else. The Meater app tells you when to pull the meat from the grill and how long to rest it to get the meat to the desired internal temperature through carry over cooking. Fantastic! Now to the bad. You have no way of knowing if the probe is charging. You can press the button on the front of the Meater+ block and see that the battery in the block has power but no way to tell if the probe is actually charging. I completed my pork shoulder last weekend, washed the probe after use, making sure to scrub the ambient end with the scouring pad side of a dish sponge like the paperwork says and placed it in the block to charge until I used it again. Perfect experience. Get another pork shoulder prepped and ready to go today, pull out the Meater+, excited to use it, and the Meater app shows me my probe has no charge. The probe had enough battery to connect to the phone for five mins but completely died afterwards. I am now very frustrated and sweating as SouthEast Georgia is 95 degrees today and I'm standing in front of a hot grill trying to get a $100 meat probe to do it's job. I go in the house, grab my trusty, rusty ThermoPro and get it all going. I then scour the internet to find that apparently I did not scrub the ambient end of the probe well enough to get the thinnest layer of carbon you could possibly imagine off of it in order for it to charge. The ambient end of the probe was aluminum colored, did not have an oily sheen or feel, and definitely was devoid of food particles. I assumed it was clean. It was not. When cooking on charcoal, the smoke leaves behind a layer of carbon that I had to lightly scrape off with a razor blade. Touché, Meater+. I appreciate you for your initial great experience and fantastic software but I hate you for the fickleness of having to be scraped with a razor blade in order for your block to charge your probe. Touché.

It's not the most intuitive thing to use. Just so you know, the base needs to be pretty close to the probe at all times and the phone needs to be connected to the base. My Meater is very prone to losing connection. It's mostly just annoying as the app saves all progress even after losing connection, so a quick reset fixes it. But the recipes and the system it gives you to cook virtually any meat, be it turkey or chicken or any cut of steak / roast, is almost perfect. I've made multiple ribeye steaks, striploin, and yesterday did a full 4kg prime rib over 6 hours of cook time. I've never once before made perfect medium rare prime rib that's fully cooked throughout. Sure, I'm not professional chef, but it's nice not wasting $100 worth of meat and having a meal that everybody is raving about. The recipes provided by Meater in the app are great with awesome videos and step by step instructions, as well as reasoning for each step. But you don't have to use it if you know the temps you need to reach and the proper techniques to cooking meat. I've used it to learn how to roast meat low and slow and the results are just divine every time. The temps are completely accurate. The done-ness every time I've used it has always been perfect too, right down to the resting time. There's even graphs inside the app so you can track the oven air temperature (which fluctuates quite a lot surprisingly), and internal meat temperature. Estimated cooking times are the best too. It's given me some really good insights on how much to adjust cook time for when you're opening the oven every 30 minutes to baste the meat. No more guessing, so it's always consistently perfect. No need to rely on any archaic methods like pushing in the meat or stabbing with a knife then using your gut feeling. I really think if you spend a lot of time cooking expensive meats or roasting birds / meats for half a day, you need to get one of these. The only downsides are this doesn't work on thin cuts of meat (the instructions say not to use this if the probe cannot be completely inside the meat) and the app has a lot of disconnects. But other than that it's a very solid recommendation!

I use my BBQ on a daily basis and have tested a lot of BBQ thermometers, and NONE delivers the quality that Meater does or the ease of use in the app. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth the price? Without a doubt.

I know the Meater is expensive but on this occasion I believe I got what I payed for. The instructions and web support that come with the probe and are on the web are quite adequate. The probe was easy to pair with my phone and once that was done things were ready to move on. I put the probe in a large joint of pork, used the app to get the end result I wanted and a couple of hours or so later I finished up with a perfectly cooked pork joint. The meat can be cooked to any condition from rare to pulled and cooking and resting times are also advised. I don't cook turkeys nowadays but the amount of consternation cooking one of those on Xmas day can cause is a good enough reason to buy one of these if ever there was one. The chances of ruining a roast with one of these, if used properly, are virtually insignificant and given the price of meat these days that can only be a good thing. The Meater is a well made piece of equipment and as far as I am concerned and I am glad I've got one!
