Used 4 of these as Dolby Atmos height ceiling speakers in our Home Theater project. Everything about these speakers is what you'd want in a project like this: Good value, good quality, easy installation, great sound. The Audyssey speaker calibration in our Denon AVR showed these able to handle down to 40hz, and the EQ curve was surprisingly flat. Since they are Atmos speakers, I set the low-pass to 60hz and let the AVR apply the measured EQ curve. All 4 speakers had practically identical EQ curves and volume levels to each other, which should be expected but unfortunately is not always the case with value-priced speakers. The magnetic grills are a great design that hold in place tightly, but remove very easily with no forcing or drama. There's a treble attenuation switch that remains accessible behind the grill without removing the speaker that lets you tone down the tweeter by a few DB if you need this for your application. The very sturdy terminals can take any kind of wire, spade or banana plug you care to use. They have very strong springs and are gold plated. No rattles, no flatness, deadness or punchiness - just clean Atmos height goodness that makes overhead sounds come to life. Very pleased - I would buy these again without reservation.

These are working great as my atmos speakers, got 4 of them. The 6” do a great job filling the room with sound. Not bright speakers but also not truely neutral either, which is nice given their purpose and the sounds they’ll be reproducing. I tested and compared these with several other brands and they were the least bright and got surprisingly low for being in the attic. If anything they are louder than most, not in your face loud but every room correction had these lowered a good bit and others raised for comparison. They lack a little detail cimpared to higher end brands but your getting 80-90% of the sound quality for a fraction of the cost! And cost matters, esp when getting a speaker that’s only getting a limited amount of frequency sent to it. Make sure you position them correctly and as close to on axis as you can, most ppl don’t or don’t know how, and these will work wonders. Super easy instal, like most nowadays. The only con here is the seller offers them cheaper on their website but you don’t get free returns.

This is actually the 2nd time I've used these speakers for my living room. I've used monoprice inceilings for numerous projects and I believe these are best of their offerings. To elevate the sound these give I'd recommend boxing them off in the ceiling. I've got these chambered with about .5 cubic feet box. Two reasons to box them off are bass response and sound control. Normally you would cut the hole, wire it and install in the hole. But if you've ever used inceilings before you know how much sound will radiate from your attic which your neighbors will hear. But once chambered that'll be reduced by 90%.

We bought a pair of these alongside some smaller Polk ceiling speakers, the Monoprice speakers sounded much worse, especially in the mid and low ranges. Not worth your money.

Bought these in November of 2021 and installed them a month or two later. Two as Atmos, two as my rear speakers. They have worked great thus far and I am very pleased with them. Atmos are angled towards the couch. Couch is against a wall so "rears" are over the couch pointed in towards the main listening positions. At the time they were much cheaper than polk and other similar speakers I was looking at. Recommended.

Bought and returned due to false advertising. I've been building my own speakers as a hobby for 25 years. I know how to measure a driver, this is a 6 1/2" speaker driver not an 8" as advertised. No way to stretch the imagination to make this an 8" speaker. Sound is fair to poor with an overly stiff surround on the cone. This makes the driver harder to drive (needs lots of power to produce any bass) Woofer with holes in the closed basket make for lots of reflections back thru the cone and muddy the sound. Tweeter is sharp and biting. On the positive side, the design and build quality of the plastic is pretty good. I guess I expected too much. These were for a dedicated HT Atmos application.

I would compare these speakers to Polk Audio in terms of overall sound clarity and balanced performance, though the Monoprice Alphas bring their own unique flair. The Alphas have a warm, engaging sound signature that’s particularly satisfying for casual listening across various genres. The bass is present but not overpowering, providing a balanced low-end that blends well without overshadowing mids and highs. Compared to Polk Audio, the Alphas might lack a bit of the upper-frequency clarity that Polk tends to deliver but make up for it with a fuller mid-range and a broader soundstage. The imaging is also impressive for their size, making them ideal for small to medium-sized rooms where you want immersive sound without too much bass dominance. In terms of build quality, the Monoprice Alphas feel solid and well-constructed for their price point, featuring a sleek, minimalist design that can easily blend into most setups. While Polk Audio might edge out in terms of refined looks, the Alphas are a fantastic choice if you're looking for high-value performance and an enjoyable listening experience on a budget. They may not reach the audiophile level but are undoubtedly a solid choice for the price.

I purchased 4 of these (2 pairs) for Atmos home theatre. The 6.5” are all you need for this. I feel the 8” would have been overkill. These are very easy to install, great quality and sound very good for my application. Very happy with my purchase.

Sound better than I was expecting based on others saying they had no bass. They not booming but work well for stereo without a sub. I have this paired with a Bluetooth fosi amp with the bass turned up a bit and it sounds good. Easy to install. Solid binding posts and fairly heavy which is usually a good sign for speakers. I’ve read they get better as they break in yet the sound out of the box is good. Would recommend.
