I wanted to use this vacuuming and mopping robot for at least a month before I wrote a review, so I really could get to know how to properly use it and how it performs. It is so easy to use. Technically, you could get started immediately once you plug in the charging station and give it some time to charge. Out of box, the only assembly is popping on the cleaning 'whiskers', slipping the mop pads on, and popping in the detergent container which is already pre-filled. For a fast start, you just push the button on top of it and if it's the first time, it will go around and map out the rooms in your home. Once mapped, you can just start him manually by pushing the button and use all the defaults set up or better yet, add the app to your phone and you can see all the settings and modes you can use. For instance, you can do regular vacuum suction or super-powerful suction. Or, for area rugs (or any rug actually), you can tell it to vacuum it, cross over it (skip it), or don't even get on it at all- side step it entirely. Each run, he's (I named him Wally) constantly updating his surroundings so your map will get better each time. He will do one room at a time and do the outside boundary first including baseboards if you want him too, then he goes back and fills it all in. He will stop on occasion to go back to his base to either recharge (although he carries a charge for at least 2 hours at full force capacity and mopping.), empty his dust tray (it gets sucked up and compacted in the main dust bag in the base), or to rewet and clean his mop heads. There's a smart mode where you can just let the robot decide what to do- he knows if it's carpet, tile, hardwood, area rug, etc. He's very quiet, I usually cannot hear him at all when one room over or more. In fact, we had the football game on when he came into the family room and it didn't even bother us where we needed to turn up the volume. It's not a whisper, but it's not loud. Kind of like constant 'white noise' in the background. If he somehow gets stuck, he can call for help by making sounds. Or, if you don't know where he is, you can either just look at the app and you can see him moving or where he's stuck right on your map. If he does get stuck somehow, you can opt to receive a text. I do this, and it says exactly what's going on, error code, what room he's in, you can even see the path he took in each room for that particular cleaning cycle. Back to getting stuck, he does an excellent job of avoiding obstacles, but I initially forgot to mark certain areas where I want him to skip in the app. (This is easy to do, you just shade in the area on your map and he will avoid it, but make sure he has access to a path in or out or past it - he follows instructions so if for instance you block too much and cover the door way leading back out of a room, he will stop and send you a message. I forgot to mark under my bed as a no go zone, so once under there it was like an obstacle course, things shifted, there were wires and cords, etc so he got stuck. Not his fault, it was mine for not keeping him out of there. You can set up a schedule in the app where you decide which days of the week, how often, which tasks (mop, vacuum, or both), and which rooms or entire house). He's connected to your phone via a bluetooth connection so you need wifi. We had no dead spots or issues so this was a non-issue but I just wanted to bring that up. Also, if he's vacuuming and let's say he can't get it all in the first swoop, he'll go back and do it again. If he still doesn't have it all, he will repeat this multiple times until either it's cleaned up or it's just not gonna come out- this is for both mopping and vacuuming. His base takes up about as much room as a home office sized paper shredder. If you need help or have a question on how to do something a certain way, their customer support has always gotten back to me within 24 hours via email- or you can call. I hope you found all of this helpful. I would definitely recommend you get yourself this model (Freo Ultra Z).

Play Video I upgraded from a dreame 10 to the Narwal Freo Z. And let's just technology has come a long long way in terms of robot vacuums. I've had this for a bit over a week now and it's perfect. The pros: Very easy setup and documentation. It's incredibly quiet compared to any robot vacuum I've used. Ever. I've had Wyze, roborock, dreame, and finally this. This is by far the quietest vacuum I've ever used and somehow even more powerful in terms of suction. Oh, and an enormous water tank. Freo mind! I am absolutely in love with this feature and especially the intensive cleaning for large dirty area(s). My house is oak flooring throughout with throw rugs throughout. When you first enable this, you might think the robot is going crazy cleaning the same spot over and over. Don't go crazy. Whatever sensors it is using, trust them. Performance: Wood floors, tile floors: It does an incredible job vacuuming and mopping these. Absolutely no complaints. I'm primarily using the freo mind portion within the app and I have no complaints. Carpets: I have two australian shepherds. It's nearly November. It's shedding season. Anyone that has any double coat dog knows the struggle is real when they start blowing their coats. It definitely does a fantastic job picking up the hair throughout the house. Hair on the carpet is no match for that thing. Also a plus, if it detects that the carpet or flooring is dirty, you will hear the vacuum go a bit louder for more suction power. Edge mode: I can't personally say I've had much time to observe this (the vacuum runs during the day during working hours). However, the app doesn't lie. I have observed it doing its little dust thing. Cool feature, but that's all I can say. I tend to steam the baseboards once a year for a deep clean anyway. ------ What could be better: The app is great. BUT, there are definitely some features that you should enable once it has mapped the house. It will not vacuum carpets unless explicitly specified. You can change the behavior of this in the app by selecting the carpet on the map and you can tell it how you would like to do it. Narwal does not recommend having this on high-pile carpets. If you have pets, do make sure to check off "Family with Pets" in the app so it will empty the dustbin more regularly. I also had to check off auto dust collection set to always rather than smart. This ensures that it will empty the dust bin after every cleaning. The smart empty was not cutting it for me as a family with 2 pets. I do wish there was a way to complete a room, have it go empty the dust bin, then resume to the next room. Which, you can do by setting up an individual schedule (per room), just a minor annoyance is all.

Play Video I had the x ultra before this one and only reason I upgraded was because this one has the dust bag built into the base. Sadly, it doesn’t empty the vacuum if it gets full. It doesn’t return to base after so long to empty as it does with mopping. The dust bin is much smaller in this design and so it doesn’t hold as much. I have an Australian shepherd who constantly sheds. I had the roomba previously and it would return to base constantly to empty itself. With the x ultra i knew i had to empty the bin before i started because i knew it would fill up. This was my solution or so i thought. It maps the house in 15 min and accurate. It has great obstacle avoidance. It mops and doesn’t an amazing job. This new feature is a complete fail and sadly the reason it was purchased. The design clogs in the unit because of the smaller hole. Seriously thinking I’ll swap out the new bin for the more useable one from my x. Help desk was sadly no help but only because it’s a design flaw that they’ll have to address. Update: I’ve lowered to one star. If you need a mop this does a great job. If you have a house that doesn’t get dirty, this will be great. If you have a dog or a pet that sheds, this is a waste of hard earned money. I called and spoke to the company and they said i just need to clean less more often. I would run this daily if it could handle it but it cannot handle even a single room. The dustbin is a terrible on this unit. Clogs constantly. Doesn’t empty to base like they say. It’s a disaster. So disappointed. Now i can’t even go back to the x ultra because i donated it. It would handle the dog hair with no problem. It’s even avoiding cotton from a dogs toy that their other version would grab lol

I absolutely love my Narwal it makes keeping the house so easy. I have 2 small dogs and of course 3 teen boys so sometimes things get left on the floor like socks , dog toys ect. The Narwal has an amazing obstacle avoidance and can show you on the map where and what the item is. This is truly a set it and forget it. I love how I can have my floors mopped and vacuumed while I am doing other things. I don’t find it loud or disruptive. This is one of my most used small appliances in my home

Used daily for 4 months with 2 cats - super quiet (never disturbs naps!), ZERO hair wrapped in brushes, sucks up litter/food instantly. Still works like new! Best pet-owner investment ever.

I got my Narwal Z ultra and it ran the 1st time and was all setup. I set up a schedule and the vacuum gave me an error. I called customer support and they walked me through steps to get it working but it still would not work. They then sent me a FEDEX return slip and a week later I had a replacement unit. The unit has worked perfect ever since. The mopping feature works really well I have had a couple of really dirty spots and the unit detected them and went over it multiple times to clean it. Very happy with my purchase.

This is our 5th vacuum robot and first time from this brand. After 4 months of running weekly, I can say without a doubt that this is the first time that I have no complaints with a robot vacuum. It works flawlessly, can even do a 2 step (vacuum then mop). Liquid detergent seems to last forever (well unless you run it daily). Connection to my wifi works great and never drops unlike other robots in the past. Would highly recommend to anyone

Company is very lacking. Never got any support for 3 months about extended warranty. Narwal z broke down under 2 months and wouldn’t pump water. They asked me to send it away and they didn’t replace it first. So here I am still waiting a month and half later and my vacuum is still in there shop getting fixed. Very disappointed on the price of this vacuum and how the company is run as other company’s will send a replacement and they fix the one with issues. Not as great as I thought it would be. Can only do spots on second floor vacuuuming. I have tried a lot of robot vacuums and this will be my last Narwal. My vacuum has been in the shop longer than I’ve owned it and they don’t care like there waiting for warranty to run out. Buyer beware.
