I recently upgraded to the NETGEAR Nighthawk CM3000 DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem, and it has been an exceptional performer for my high-speed internet needs. Here's my experience: Pros: Supports Top-Tier Speeds: This modem is approved for cable plans up to 2.5Gbps, making it perfect for today’s ultra-fast internet and future-proofing for years to come. My speeds are consistently reliable, with no dips or interruptions, even during peak hours. Broad Compatibility: It works seamlessly with all major cable providers, including Xfinity, Spectrum, and Cox. Activation with Xfinity was a breeze, taking only a few minutes to get up and running. DOCSIS 3.1 Technology: The mid/high-split support ensures better upstream and downstream capabilities, making it ideal for heavy internet users like gamers, streamers, and remote workers. Compact Design: The sleek, vertical design saves space and blends well with my other networking equipment. Cons: No Built-In Wi-Fi: This modem doesn’t include Wi-Fi capabilities, so you’ll need a separate router for wireless connections. For me, this wasn’t an issue since I paired it with some other routers Price: It’s a bit pricey compared to some other modems, but the performance and future-proofing make it worth the investment.

The cable modem installed easily and was provisioned by my cable provider (Cox) with no issues and clean diagnostics. Download and upload speeds were increased to the max of my Internet service plan (I pay for 500 max download and speed test was showing close to 600 with the CM3000). This replaces a very old Arris SB6183 DOCSIS 3.0 modem. The only issue I had was the admin password for the device UI stopped working (no idea why), but following a call to Netgear tech support I was able to correct this with a hard reset. The modem has been installed and operating with zero problems for six days now. Excellent product in my opinion.

This modem worked great until the multi-gig function inexplicably stopped working after only a year and a half. Now instead of getting the 1000 Mbps I pay for, I am capped at 100 Mbps. I did not touch the thing the entire time, it just stopped working. I have tried replacing all cords, reset everything, and nothing has fixed the issue. Which made me look into updating the firmware and had me discover that Netgear is a scam. They expect you to pay extra for any amount of tech support. Meanwhile they claim they are unable to update the firmware. So I talk to my ISP (Mediacom), and they claim they are unable to update the firmware and it is the manufacturer who can do that. So back and forth I go between Mediacom and Netgear who both say they can't update anything and that the other should be able to. So here I am with wasted time, wasted money, and a $300 box that can't even put out a wireless signal on its own. This modem is too expensive to not even last 2 years at full functionality. Needed a new modem to accommodate increased internet speed. Swapped out the NETGEAR CM700 for the CM2000. A quick call to the ISP and we were up and running in no time. Download speeds have improved greatly. Pairs perfectly with the NETGEAR R7000P router!

Easy to install once the cable company switched on their side. Have Cox cable

Day one, easy set up with the Xfinity app. Took about 15 minutes. We noticed immediate results over my previous 8 yr old modem. It seemed snappier. This review is based on initial setup and first day results. I’m parring this with a new Netgear router that’s coming soon. So far, this seems like a great addition to our system.
