I did a lot of searching for a new modem since my old Cisco docsis 3.0 maxes at 260mbps on speed tests, while I have 300mbps. I will say that most modems listed all have a 10% one star, so I ignored this. Netgear got the best rating for reliability, so I checked modems on Amazon that were compatible for Comcast Xfinity. I stumbled on the renewed Nighhawk, that not only is a modem, but also has built in WiFi. Since this is a CAX30 modem and recommended by Comcast.....I bought this. In the Xfinity app, just use the new device option, scan the QR code on the side of the modem/router to capture the MAC address. Setup took 10 minutes as listed. Once finished, I like to clear devices. I unplugged the modem while restarting my computer. Let everything reset, modem and router came online...done. Very straight forward setup. I am a fan of refurbished or renewed hardware, since they usually are solid choices after an initial failure from the factory. My new speed is 360mbps, has an integrated router, and I recommended this with out hesitation. It is a steal at $130.

Super easy to install, works great, and saving me money more that I’m not renting from the cable company

As headline states, it works great, just make sure to register the router with Netgear once you get it or internet will not work. I called Netgear thinking the router was still somehow connected to the prior user but after creating my account and registering the product the internet started to work. I also had an issue after the first day where the internet would disconnect after every 20 minutes or so and I would have to unplug and plug in the router to restart it. Can't remember exactly how I fixed it, but I went from having a separate 5G network and 2.4G network to a 2.4G network and a 2.4-5G network. I think in the settings if you select for the router to optimize between the networks automatically, it might create that network for you. I use the 2.4-5G network and it seems to work pretty well.

BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE!!! I purchased one of these refurbished units figuring that Amazon would make sure the modem/router worked as it should. Setup through Xfinity was fast and easy. Modem/router worked great for three days, then STOPPED COLD. Tried to call Xfinity but it was 11pm and there are no phone reps available. Used the ChatBot which told me that my plan didn't include internet- which is wrong. Went to the Xfinity/Comcast store next day upon opening and asked what was going on. After several minute of questions, the store manager asked if I had purchased a NEW MODEM or used unit. I explained it was refurbished and he says that the machine will not work because it's already been authorized on another account. Only option is to return the modem and get a new one. So I had to rent an Xfinity modem until I can order and receive a new unit. Just BEWARD of what you might be getting into!

My main reason to buy a modem is to stop paying Mediacom monthly rent, $ out the window. Setting this up was very difficult. You better call someone up if you're not a computer wiz. Took approximately an hour. So far happy with the working of it.

Ordered and operating for a number of weeks without any problems. Is refurbished unit, but looks brand new cosmetically no marks anywhere. I did not need a combo this large, but price was right. Performance and speed has improved, I’m well satisfied. Had more problems with cable company connecting unit and not units fault.

You be nervous at first about change, but then when you realize that the price of Cable have skyrocketed not to mention paying $17 a month to lease a modem you think about that $17 a month is $204 a year, over years that’s $1000. And I see no difference. I should’ve did this after year one
