Pros: I like almost everything about this little cam. It has tons of features you can tinker with, but it also works right out of the box, just by plugging it in. Very little work to get it up and running. I also bought ROVE's memory card, which worked without any issue. The software and instructions/documentation are fantastic - very clear and well thought-out, which is rare for electronics these days, with most stuff being made overseas by folks who don't know English well. This camera is designed in the USA, manufactured in China - like Apple products. The unboxing experience was surprisingly fun, and obviously Apple-inspired. Build quality looks really solid - I see no flaws. Camera is very easy to mount. ROVE even included cleaning wipes for my windshield in the product packaging! It's little touches like this that show they put a lot of thought and care into this product. It's also really easy to get the videos onto my computer; I appreciate the no-hassle experience. ?: I haven't tested the night vision yet. One other feature I'm excited to try is time lapse mode. Cons: The camera stops recording as soon as the engine is turned off. I understand why it is designed this way. But I want to be able to record while I'm pulled over with the engine off. For example, if a police officer pulls me over. Cops usually tell you to turn off your car engine. If you do that your camera shuts off and you'll have no footage! ROVE sells a kit that allows you to hook the camera up directly to your car battery, but I worry that will drain my battery; might be better for owners of electric vehicles. The other major flaw with this camera is that it only records the forward-facing direction; if someone rear-ends you, you won't have any footage of it (you'll need to buy a whole second camera for that). Finally, the built-in speedometer seems to be biased 1 or 2 mph too fast, imho. That's going to make you look bad if you try to use the videos in court - it makes you look like you were driving faster than you were! There ought to be a setting to tune this up or down 1-3 mph. Fortunately there is a setting to just turn it off.

I bought the Rove R2-4k Pro Dash Cam for replacement of my less functional Lindu cam. Ran into a slight issue when installing the hardware kit seems to have a small defect. But very quickly after I inquired Rove, they sent me a new kit and everything worked as intended. That’s excellent customer service from Rove on top of a top notch dash cam. Everything works seamless with this cam & fast connection from moment I start my car. Loads of info on the leds even directions my car facing Download video to my phone is fast & easy and the video quality is excellent I can feel that Rove really test the crab out of the cam & the software before release. I mean I cannot find any fault. I installed the cam next to my mirror level and its best location. The cam size is small enough that it won’t obstruct road views yet with plenty info & functions. O.. and it runs only slightly warm compared to other brands running hot from reviews. All in all Well done Rove, very satisfied

First thing you want is ease of use. Once you get it set the way you want with its many features it's hands off doing its job every time you start to drive. I bought three of them for myself and my family and so far they are working fine. We used the included suction mount with two of our vehicles and used the adhesive mounting pad for another. Nice to have both options included. Now the customization. The Rove app is easy to use and has given me many options to customize in what I want displayed and the functionality of the ROVE R2-4K PRO. The display can even go full off while still recording if you want. Playback on the app is straight forward. The Live view feature on the app helped me find the optimal location to mount the camera. I did have one glitch though. Something was preventing me from updating the firmware to Ver 11. The The App nicely told me there was another firmware update. I already had experience updating from Ver 1 to Ver 8 and it was very easy through the app. For whatever reason it wasn't updating to Ver 11 when I tried on any of my units. So I sent a text to Customer service on the number they provided not expecting much but to my surprise they were very responsive with a solution to my updating which worked. Then they followed up multiple times with emails to make sure I was satisfied with the solution and the product. I saw some negative reviews from earlier years about lack of customer service but my experience is totally different and maybe it was true years ago but not now. I believe the picture quality, ease of use, aggressive updating of the unit as well as a nice App and good customer service is a good value for the price.

I bought the ROVE R2-4K PRO Dash Cam in June 2023, and I think it’s a great choice if you need something reliable and high-quality. Features are great. The video is clear, even at night, which I really like it. Built-in GPS is handy. The WiFi is fast, so you can quickly save videos to your phone, but sometimes the app is very tricky to use. I also like how it has a loop recording and a G-sensor that locks videos in case of a crash. I am giving only 4 stars because the app is not great and can be tricky to use sometimes. Also, you need to buy a lens cover to reduce glare. I wish it came with it. Overall, it’s been great for recording my trips.

This dashcam is one of the simplest I've ever dealt with (I've had some 4 or 5 over the years). The instructions are excellent and in English (such a nice change!), there are lots of videos online, and as the box says, it just works. Sure you can make adjustments but most of them are very minor and easy to do. I'd like an option to turn on and off Daylight Saving time, but that's not a big issue. The quality of image is excellent, the unit is very nice and small, and syncing to my phone was a breeze. Tech support is quick and responsive, too. Highly recommend!!

Would be nice to know about the other hardwire add on options with the product. Otherwise it’s a great product. Great quality.

This is my first dashcam. I had been looking at these Rove ones for a while and waiting for a big sale before buying it. I got the pro edition today and wow!! I knew it would be good, but it’s really is good. Comes in lovely packaging, the user interface is really slick and well thought out. You can connect to it all from your phone and manage all the videos and settings and everything. The whole thing is really slick and well thought out. Not like a lot of the garbage these days where you get a half decent product and then some terrible interface to manage it and some crusty old app that doesn’t work. And the video. Oh boy. I just took it out for a spin at nighttime and it is crystal clear. I mean REALLY good. And, I’ve only got it set to 2k rather than 4K. At this point I don’t see why I need 4K (haha). I decided to fork out and pay for the Rove brand memory card too. I’ve never (ever) bought a premium card for any device before but the manufacturer really seemed adamant that it’s worth the extra few bucks. I’m really happy. This is a great product and really well made. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a dashcam.

My primary reason for wanting a Dash Cam was to use it in rental cars when I am travelling and this one perfectly fits the requirements. The packaging is really good and contains everything except for a SD (Memory) card that is required to use this device. Unlike others I like the fact that they dont provide a SD card and charge more and instead give the freedom to us to choose the brand and size as per our needs. All you have to ensure is stick to the Read/Write speeds which they recommend and you are good. I went ahead with a SanDisk extreme 128GB and it works as expected. Coming to the setup, I had issues setting the device with an Android 14. The WiFi kept disconnecting no matter what I did and could never proceed. When I tried with iOS 17, it worked as expected. There was a firmware upgrade post which I could connect to my Android as well. I havent gotten the chance to record on road yet but from testing at home it seems to pretty good. Will soon update once I get a chance to test it on a drive. This is not a big deal but just a suggestion to Rove, it would be really great if you could provide a screen protector as this device is used by a lot of people in Rental cars and it would avoid a lot of scratches while packing if there’s a screen guard. Thank you :) Update: Used it on three road trips so far and it works perfectly. Displays the speed exactly that I see on the speedometer. Night time video quality is surprisingly good too. Had a small problem but the support team dealt with it precisely and sorted out the issue within a day. I am much more confident driving in different cities/countries having this in my car.
