I've been thoroughly impressed with South Chicago Packing's Wagyu Beef Tallow. As someone who follows a paleo-friendly and keto-friendly diet, finding high-quality fats is crucial, and this tallow delivers on both taste and nutrition. The tallow itself is 100% pure Wagyu beef, which means it's rich in flavor and offers a unique depth that enhances any dish I use it in. From sautéing vegetables to frying eggs, it adds a savory richness that's hard to beat. The texture is smooth and melts beautifully, making it easy to work with in the kitchen. My only gripe is with the packaging—it's a bit flimsy, which can make handling and storage a tad inconvenient. However, this is a minor issue considering the exceptional quality of the product itself. Overall, if you're looking for a premium beef tallow that's not only delicious but also aligns with your dietary preferences, South Chicago Packing's Wagyu Beef Tallow is an excellent choice. It's versatile, flavorful, and supports a healthy lifestyle without compromising on taste.

I got this after reading the reviews on multiple products. The product itself is great, delicious for frying foods. Other reviews have warned about the packaging being flimsy. This is true. The container is some kind of plastic and it's structurally weak so you don't want to apply a lot of force to it. If you have a better container that's preferable, but if you aren't rough with it then it is fine. Would purchase again.

My favorite Carnivore Diet addition. I took a chance in ordering this since I had never tried this particular form of tallow. I am familiar with Wagyu Beef and was happy that I could purchase such a large container for such a reasonable price in comparison to other companies who offer tallow or lard. I'm glad I purchased it. Of course, it just tastes like plain tallow, obviously there's no salt added, but I make my own "egg white bites" (I use egg yolk), and I use the tallow in a square French Toast pan so I can swirl the egg around which makes the whole batch easy to flip and then cut into 4 squares. The tallow adds to my overall carnivore fat consumption for the day and it doesn't have a weird or rancid taste. I store mine in the fridge after opening. Also, the container is filled completely to the top. I will buy this again.

This tallow tastes good and works well. It does not burn easily and works well with a wok, adding a layer of flavor to the dish.

I've tried a variety of animal fats over the past several years to help improve my health and digestion. Notably, I like butter in small doses; I find ghee relatively gross unless I use it on bread (which defeats the purpose), and found the Epic tallow to be very grainy/watery, not to mention expensive. The Epic lard totally repulsed me. A local farm sells animal fat relatively cheaply, from which I've made my own tallow, but it takes awhile to slow cook, and I can only intermittently digest well the remaining pieces. Anyway — I'd seen this tallow reviewed by Ferrigno Freedom on YouTube, and despite the mixed reviews here, decided to give it a try. It is indeed very different than other tallows on the market — the consistency is more akin to a whipped tallow (which I've bought separately to use on my face), even Crisco. The taste is very light, similar to a melted butter, and it does in fact melt quickly on steamed veggies, grilled meat, etc., as well as the Ezekiel toast I treated myself to a few nights ago. What's made the biggest impact, though, is the fact that, for me, it's digested well — I'm so far only a few days in, but I can physically feel the difference between this and, for example, butter (which I seem to have a sensitivity to). I do try to eat higher fat for myriad reasons (hormone balancing, to keep my macros in check, etc.), but it's not always easy when the things you eat (see above) don't sit well in your system, and if, like me, you come from a high-carb background. If you have $30 to spare, and are committed to your health, give it a shot. At the very worst, you have something to cook with for an indefinite amount of time. I'd even go so far to guess this would do well in baking. I'll definitely buy again, either way. EDIT: a quick update to my original review, as I'm now on my second tub: this tallow is NOT shelf stable. I noticed a sour smell coming from the bottom of the tub once I approached the 1/4 mark. I ordered a new tub, and have since kept it in the fridge. Ironically, I actually enjoy consuming it cold — it has a butter-like texture in this way. But, I would not recommend keeping this in the cupboard once opened. (Also, with both jars, the inside seal was tough to remove, and required me using scissors to cut it off, as the pull tab doesn't work. Still gets five stars beside these reasons.)
