The apples are small and have a cover with holes which entice the flies. The flies fall in the tiny holes and drown in vinegar. The vinegar used is stinky and sweet smelling, but the cover provides some barrier. It takes a few days, but it works. We had quite a swarm living in the garbage because I was out of town for a few weeks and forgot to dump the garbage before leaving, but they did die out without the use of chemicals. Delivery was prompt.

I thought about making a homemade trap for fruit flies like I did many years ago but decided to purchase this instead and am SO HAPPY that I did!!! This is worth every penny. A piece of cake to set up and I literally had it out a couple of days and look at how much it collected including even a regular fly along with the dozens of fruit flies. You can keep these and refill with some apple cider vinegar if your problem comes back but these are so cute and took care of the problem overnight! Highly recommend!!

The only reason this is not 5 stars is because it’s not reusable. The apples could easily be made to twist open to clean them out and add more liquid. Instead, they are throw aways. What a waste of resources! But I keep buying them because they work. Make them reusable and then sell the liquid to replenish, and it’ll be perfect!

I have been having A LOT of fruit flies which I'm pretty certain are coming from my kitchen sink's drain. I purchased these baits to help eliminate them. I placed one between the kitchen sink and basket of fruit on our counter. I placed another near the kitchen trash can. As soon as I placed them down, the fruit flies were IMMEDIATELY attracted to them. 2 weeks later was when these photos were taken. The one with slightly more fruit flies was by our kitchen sink/fruit basket. The one with a bit less was by out trash can. I used the Terro bait liquid that came with these traps. When you run out, you can reuse the plastic traps and either order more Terro bait, or create your own homemade version. I've read you can refill these using apple cider vinegar and a few drops of Dawn Dish Soap (I have not tested this yet myself, but it's nice to know I can use whatever bait I wish). On top of these traps, I also used boiling hot water with vinegar and baking soda to clean out our kitchen drain. It's supposed to kill the fruit flies from within so they stop reproducing. I would advise doing this once a week until you feel they have all been eliminated. Overall, great product that does exactly what it says: Attracts, traps, and kills fruit flies.

I had a fungus gnat problem in my house thanks to a plant I had brought in. It was getting a little out of hand so I broke down and got these. Terro has been great at solving any pest problem I had so I trusted this to do the job. They use some sort of apple cider vinegar I think. The smell was a little intense for a couple of days but eventually dissipated. The stuff also evaporates pretty quickly but it did the job and collected quite a bit. I was in a situation though so needed more than these traps but eventually got it under control. You can reuse these containers too. I recommend putting a bit of wine or rice vinegar in them to refill. The fungus gnats and fruit flies go crazy for that.

Not sure how we got a gnat/fruit fly infestation but it got bad. I was a crazy person running around with a fly swatter. I used apple cider vinegar in a dish but they lounged around that like it was a swimming pool. I read the reviews and purchased a Zevo system as I like their sprays. I plugged that in and only collected 5 gnats & one odd bug in a week. Continued my search and I found this and thought, "right", how is this different than apple cider in a bowl? Well I can tell you, it is. I have had it in my kitchen for 2 full days & almost all of the gnats are gone. You can see them floating in the bottom of the liquid. There are holes to go in but for some reason, they don't get out once they are in. There are still a few lingering gnats on day 3 and hopefully they take the dive into the little apple. I truly felt this was going to be a waste of money but it is something so simple and inexpensive and is more attractive and less risk of spill than my little bowl. I use the terro ant traps and now I'm a fan of these.

The packaging says a 6 months supply. That’s a lie. It actually lasted less than a week. After putting the solution in the little apples, the knats were gone! They were to attracted to it. The whole thing was full… so full in fact that I had to put more solution inside of it, and it dried up quickly. Good for a quick solution but not long term unless you want to spend a ton of money or don’t have a knat problem. It’s definitely a lot more attractive than a fly strip! I’d recommend though. Very effective.
