Good Product

The device does not have an airtight seal. I neglected to test it prior to using, and made a huge mess when I filled it and assumed the liquid would stay in the cylinder until the bulb was used to dispense it. Huge mistake, huge mess. After verifying the bulb was mounted as intended, several times, I conclude it was a complete waste of money for its intended purpose. I gave it 5 stars for ease of cleaning because I never had to clean it once it was in te trash bin after 1st, 2nd and 3rd failed attempt to use.

I remember my Mom and Dad had one of these and it was kind of nasty looking because you couldn’t effectively clean it. This one looks like it is going to be easy clean up after use. Seems really solid too!

I didn't buy this to use as a turkey baster (at least initially)...and no, it wasn't for that either.... I was trying to unfreeze the defroster drain on my freezer by squirting boiling water down the drain. It didn't quite work as I hoped, though it does pull liquid into the tube and has good capacity. The problem is that when basting a turkey, it doesn't matter much if the liquid starts to drip out immediately but when transferring liquid from a measuring cup to the back of the freezer, you don't want the water all over the floor and the bottom of the freezer. If I could have maintained an upright position, it might have worked, but when the baster was tilted, all the liquid would shoot out. Eventually I removed the bulb and just poured the hot water through the bottom part of the baster (while holding it with silicone) to direct it into the vent containing the drain. All the pieces survived and the tube could handle the boiling water with no problems, so it should handle turkey drippings with no problem. When not using it for home repair, I'll use it to remove unwanted liquids from cooking pans where I've used a spoon in the past; the baster should be much more efficient and able to remove much more. The cleaning brush is nicely shaped for cleaning the tube, but if grease gets into the bulb, I think it will need to be cleaned in the dish washer. I felt like the slightly discounted price was a good deal in comparison to others on offer.

It works

I generally buy a cheap turkey baster when I need it and throw it away afterwards because I don’t trust that it’s getting clean enough afterwards to not hold bacteria. This has changed the game and I can continue using it because it comes apart easily and the brush it comes with is perfect and actually gets it clean enough to continue using. It’s a high quality, thick plastic that almost feels like glass. Great addition to my kitchen.

It did not work very well on using it for a baster. Moreover, there was zero suction to pick up any liquid.
