Our review is based on a month's experience with the unit. We purchased this to alleviate the early morning awakenings of our beloved cats and for the purpose of automatic feeding when we are away. The unit arrived safely and in good condition with the bowls, holders, and cord tucked away. Our recommendation is to wash the unit thoroughly before first use as the metal hopper may have some residual oil from pressing. Assembly is easy and we opted to use batteries for "backup". Though 3 "D" cells are recommended, we used the more readily available AA batteries with D-sized spacers. They won't last as long though rechargeables are easier to come by. Setup is equally straightforward and one can opt for 1-4 meals/day of varying amounts. We liked the large hopper size, large viewing window, and assuring spring loaded top which appears to be keeping our hungry bunch at bay. Portion sizes are easily managed in the menu and the number "4-5" equates to approximately 1/4 cup (the serving volume is listed in tablespoons in the manual). One feature we've liked about the unit is that the hopper evenly distributes the portions between the two bowels. Other automatic dry feeders tend to deliver unequal portion sizes. Additionally, we haven't experienced any clogs or problems with the unit, it is easy to clean, and maintain. One can record an optional 10 second greeting which activates with every feeding though it can accidentally get erased if one mistakes the record button for the adjacent unlock button. The panel unlock button seems wise to prevent accidental activation. The LCD has backlighting when the unlock button is pressed and manual meals are accomplished easily. Equally important was the unit functioned properly during a power outage, though if one were planning on using it without AC, I would recommend using D batteries. The only downside we've encountered is that the plastic bowl holders easily detach from the unit especially if it is picked up. This is a minor annoyance when moving the device from place to place, though it does facilitate easy cleaning. We highly recommend the Voluas automatic dry food feeder.

I’ve had the feeder for 10 months. It is good quality with 4 time settings for food to drop. Also settings for different amounts of food to drop at each setting. It’s easy to clean. I started out on battery power, the batteries last for months. I wasn’t sure if I would notice if the batteries would go dead when I wasn’t home so I’ve got it plugged into an outlet not. There is only 1 feature I don’t like. The food dishes that the food drops into are stainless steel. Makes them very durable and easy to clean but noisy when the dry food drops into the dish. My cats can be sound asleep in another room, but when the food drops it’s like an alarm. They get up and run to the dish. I’m going to find some softer plastic dishes to put in the steel dishes provided.

The ONLY reason I subtracted a star was because it is not Wi-Fi enabled - which is not a big deal, it just adds convenience and information. It has taken me a while to settle on the amount of portions to dispense for my cats. I have two cats and do give them one 3 oz can split between both of them in the mornings. I started with two feedings of six portions for each feeding and I'm now down to four portions per feeding (twice per day) - I think I'm done playing around but time will tell. I saw a review talking about the feed (and try kibble) backing up in the shoot, that happened to me once but I realized the problem was I hadn't put the bowl completely in place and the side of the bowl that was taking up a little bit by the dispenser chute and the other was catching the dried food and not letting it flow in the bowl like it was supposed to - now that I have the bowl inserted correctly that never happens.

We LOVE this product! I have always lived in more rural areas of Washington and have always had fit indoor outdoor cats. Now that I’m in the city I have two indoor pudgy lazy lovey ladies. I had been letting the free roam when eating not thinking about the amount of exercise outdoor kitties get! Doc said diet time and I said OH No!!! Lol. But with this it’s been really easy to ensure proper portions. Both kitties are slimming down and lover their feeder. I wish the voice recording could be different per meal just because I’m silly that way. But it is so cute to hear the bowl call and my cats go running! It’s really easy to set. It’s really easy to clean as well! I love the thoughtfulness that what’s put into this design. I would 100% buy this again and recommend it to friends and family.

We’ve had this feeder for our two cats for a few months now, and I love it! It did take a little time to figure out the feeding sizes and times, but once we figured it out we never looked back. We have 4 dogs, 2 cats, and a rat, so I didn’t want to have to dish out any more meals than I was already doing. This is a total time and food saver, as you provide quality portion controls for your cats. Ours now know the sound of the feeder and bolt to it every time they hear it.

This is my second automatic feeder I’ve been through in 5 years. This one was perfect with the duel trays but I realized that I hadn’t heard the cat feeder go off in a few days. Then, the feeder button stopped working. I figured that the motor is completely dead. It was great until it wasn’t.

I bought this feeder a few months ago. It wasn't difficult to program and works well. There was a problem with the device. I contacted the Voluas company by email. They were very prompt with helping resolve the issue. I do recommend the feeder for the price and value.

I bought this for my babies for times that I need to be away for a day or so! It works so great and relieves any anxiety about leaving them
