So I review Hi-Fi equipment on YouTube, I won't link my channel but anyway. This is perhaps one of the best all-in-one streaming amplifiers / Swiss army knife Hi-Fi products I've had the pleasure to use. I picked this up about a month ago to use as a part of a second system and also to review it. Truth be said I've had the NAD c368 blue OS and I've also had the Marantz stereo 70s and the nr1200 and this is far and let me repeat far the better option. First off the sound quality is definitely more neutral than the Marantz and not as warm but it's more consistent. The Marantz had a tendency to sound good when playing vinyl and through the streaming but when using the HDMI or digital inputs or the analog inputs it wasn't as good, not so would the Yamaha, every input and every function sounds just as good as any other one. This definitely has a better application than HEOS, Marantz gets a lot of flack for that application and understandably so, however the Yamaha application is just better. It's more stable it works better and it allows you to do what you need to do every time you open the app. Also adding that I what advise people not to pay too much attention to people who have problems with apps or internet connectivity and who leave bad reviews because of that. I found over the years that most of those complaints are down to the individual environments that these people are use are utilizing those products that they're complaining about. The NAD definitely has the better app however the Yamaha just sounds better. Like I said weather through vinyl or digital inputs or analog inputs or streaming or Bluetooth even, the Yamaha just sounds better. It has a more involving sound and a more organic sound and a sound that draws you in to the music and you don't want to turn it off. The NAD is fine and the app is better no doubt about it, but after about an hour I can't help but want to turn it off because I'm tired of listening to it.

Did a fair amount of research and saw a number of YouTube videos on the R-N800A. For entertainment purposes, the unit has tremendous flexibility and is relatively simple plug and play, though clearly it is important to go through the instructions to get the most out of its features. Sound quality is very good, albeit that too depends on your speaker system, of course. Esthetically pleasing and simple layout. For audiophiles, the 1000 and 2000 might enhance sound quality, but for everyday entertainment use am very pleased with the 800.

Great look, good power & sound quality, and the combo of traditional receiver with integrated streaming services lets me remove my Wiim and simplify my set up. The down sides: plastic knobs break the high end spell, you can't rename inputs on the device.

I have this Yamaha connected to my vintage ADS L810 speakers, and they sound fantastic. The L810s have some of the best-sounding midranges and tweeters for the money, in my opinion. The fine, minute details in music are very present with this receiver. These L810 ADS speakers are known for being a little bass-heavy on the bottom end; however, the Yamaha RN-800n significantly improved the bass, making it thinner and tighter but still present. That being said, if you enjoy bass-heavy music, you're going to want a powered subwoofer. At the moment I've only run Tidal through it, wired from my PC, which uses NVIDIA High Definition Audio, and it sounds fantastic. I haven't connected a turntable to it yet , but I'm sure it'll do the job

The box cam pretty beat up. So far it has been working great. I did notice the standby light diving on and off for some reason. So I tuned it off completely and we started. It has fixed the issue for now. I just can't get over the box. Having some problems with streaming now. Not sure if it is because the mailman bet up the box? The seller did refund me 100 dollars for the price drop that happened in less then a month of purchase. So this is an excellent distributor who stands by the purchase. I really appreciate the out reach.

I loved this receiver in all the ways. It’s a nice looking piece for my living room - desk sound system. I paired with my Sonys Faber lumina and I have the perfect match. The app is very intuitive and Easy to use, you can cast music in the app from your phone using Tidal or Spotify and take a call or watch videos without interruption of the music on the receiver. Pleased to find this receiver for my loved music.

21st century HiFi has digital streaming focus, as this 2 channel receiver does. It supports many forms of digital streaming, including net radio from tens of thousands radio stations worldwide. It sounds great and supports a few analog sources, such as its AM/FM tuner, a phono input, plus a couple of line inputs. It doesn't work well for connecting a tape deck since there are no line out connections nor a monitor switch (to monitor a recording in progress). Oh well, tape is so 20th century. Consider this a 21st century receiver with a few legacy analog inputs. Also, there is a built in YPAO feature with a calibrated microphone which can implement minor room/speaker corrections to make this receiver sound better. If you need an HDMI input, look to the next model up in Yamaha's product line. One annoying quibble: There is no printed User Guide, which must be downloaded from the URL hidden at the bottom of page 2 of the printed Quick Guide. The Quick Guide doesn't explain how to automatically program FM stations, nor many other important features & caveats. Surely Yamaha could have included a printed User Guide, but they decided to save about $1. I'm deducting a star because I expect better at this price level.
