I wholeheartedly believe a raw diet is the best diet for dogs but found that it was very time consuming to prepare my dogs food myself and I constantly feared I was missing vital nutrients, vitamins or minerals. I purchased this food for convenience for the pet sitter when I went on vacation. My dogs loved it! I have now consistently been feeding it for several years now and my dogs are happy and at peak health. I find it best to figure out the calories your dog needs, they have an easy calculator, and weigh the food out rather than using a measuring cup. For my 70 pound, lazy dog, she gets 3.8 ounces of the chicken flavor in the morning and 4.2 ounces of the mackerel and lamb at night to meet her calorie needs. Weighing the food is best due to the way the food is made, you can have inconsistent sizes of food which will fill the cup differently. Some complain that this food is overpriced. Once you calculate your dog’s caloric needs, this food becomes more cost effective, especially compared to other high quality, pre-prepared, raw diet foods. It is also more convenient. Some complain that there are crumbles and powder in their bags. It is important to remember that this is an all natural food meaning there are no fillers such as starches. Starches are what make other foods firm and crunchy. So yes, you can expect some crumbles, sometimes more than others depending on the handling of the bags. However, the crumbles and powder are not wasted!! They are still high nutrient food. Don’t throw them away. My dogs happily licks them up from the bowl. This is another reason it’s best to weigh the food. My somewhat complaint. I’m not going to lie, the food kind of stinks, but it’s a raw diet so that is to be expected it’s just one of the downfalls. The chicken flavor isn’t bad, but the mackerel & lamb? Well, it’s fish and lamb so it shouldn’t be surprising. What is surprising, is that it doesn’t linger on my dogs breath. My complaint. They recently changed their packaging and I am not a fan. The bags used to have strong handles at the tops of the bags, they sealed back up easily and they had a perfect size scoop in them. Now there are no handles, no scoop, and sometimes I have to work the ziplock type seal. Hands down, will continue to feed and recommend this food!

I've been feeding my 2.5 year old Biewer Terriers "ZIWI Peak Air-Dried Lamb" for over two years. I want to give my dogs the best food possible..... it's all-natural ingredients give me peace of mind, knowing they're getting the best nutrition. The grain-free formula and limited ingredients are perfect for their sensitive stomachs, and the addition of superfoods boosts their overall health. They love the taste! I recommend ZIWI Peak for any dog owner looking to give their pets top-notch food.

I really like this dog food. No cheap fillers, which is a huge bonus for me. The high protein content is great for my active dog. Plus, the ethical and sustainable wild-caught seafoods and free-range, grass-fed meats are things I can feel good about giving my pet. The tasty Mackerel and Lamb flavor is the cherry on top. My dog absolutely loves it!

My dog is obsessed with ziwi food! We use it as topper for his dinners and he’s always so excited to eat his meals. We’ve been using ziwi for about 7 months now and will continue doing so. They have high quality and clean ingredients that are safe and actually good for your pets!

I've been using Ziwi Peak off and on for the last two years. At first, I thought I'd use it as my primary dry food, but with two dogs (a Sheltie and a standard sized Aussie), the cost is prohibitive. My dogs love it, though, so I compromise and use it for training. Unfortunately, there's so much that gets crumbled into really small pieces and decimated into dust in the bottom of the bag, that I've spent a *lot* of time picking out the whole pieces from the mess in the bottom third of the bag. If you're using this for training, you have to do this or your bait bag will be nothing but crumbs and dust, and your fingernails and hands will be covered in it (I. HATE. THAT.) The upside to this, for me, anyway, is that I use that wastage as a sprinkle topping for my dog's Kongs and lickimats, and sometimes for their dinners, so none of it goes to waste. The downside, though, is that there's not enough whole pieces in a bag to justify the $20+ price tag for training rewards. I estimate that I consistently can only use about 1/3 of a bag for training. You can dehydrate a lot of chicken for the same price, and without a whole lot of convenience coming with that price tag, what's the point if you then have to spend another hour + of your time sorting kibble from dust? Having pointed all of that out, my dogs do seem to really enjoy this food, so I'm at the point that every once in a while, I break down, buy a bag, and then spend an hour sorting it. I wish they'd make this in a more stable form for training treats (I suspect shipping causes a lot of friction in the bags of food in-transit, which then causes the breakdown?), or even find a way to make the product more economical, because I'd use it as our primary dry food. Overall, it's a quality product, and judging by my dog's affinity for it, they love the taste and would like more. They find it very palatable, and as a primary food source, you can feed less Ziwi Peak than you do traditional kibble as it's (supposedly) a more efficient food. My picky eater prefers this over other options when I have some in my treat pouch, so I try and hold that back for her. While I won't be keeping this on-hand as a staple item for my dogs, I will continue to purchase more (but only when I run out of dust for enrichment items!)

My pups love it and I’m certain i over feed them. This one is fish so it smells of fish but otherwise their stools are small formed and have minimal smell unless they’ve had treats/human food. My only objection is the price, otherwise-very pleased. My dogs love it. Now to find USA option that is equal quality or better. Of note, it’s worth the cost. We simply can no longer afford it

A trainer recommended Ziwi to us for our headstrong puppy -- they said the square treats were the perfect size for frequent rewards, great nutrition for calories and beloved by even picky dogs. I made the mistake of ordering the Lamb Green Tripe TREATS then, and while apparently delicious, they're huge, you have to break them in half and still they were way too big to be what the trainer had showed me. (Our dog hugely appreciated them and we reordered, but we went through the first bag in about five days; they're a very high reward product, in my opinion, and too expensive to be a regular training treat.) I realized when I went back to the website that what I'd seen with the trainer was just the Ziwi FOOD or "food topper". Now the 454 g bag of the Lamb food is going to last weeks and weeks, as a training reward. (In my photo, the tripe "treat", broken in half, is above and the food squares are below, on my palm.) Our puppy will do just about anything to get a few squares, they command his attention immediately. The product is visibly made of meat and the ingredient list impeccable. They're smelly enough to attract dogs -- other dogs try to smell my pockets on the street -- but it's dry and not gross-stinky or oily to carry around for their humans. Great!

Extremely well rounded food for your dog. Bit pricey but worth it.

Very, very high single-source meat protein with nothing at all unnecessary added. It is expensive and it takes effort to convince your dog that it is, indeed, worthwhile. Our dog wouldn’t touch it for several days (made us feel awful), however he eventually ate some, then a little more and now it is mainstay. He developed a dreadful yeast infection some years ago and the Vet suggested ‘medication and costly shampoos for life’. We suspected food may have contributed to the severity of the infection ( not caused it but certainly exacerbated it). He was, at that time, eating a very high quality dry food with extremely impressive ingredients. But we knew something in the ingredients was a potential cause. We searched to find a food with single protein sauce and very little else. It is surprisingly difficult to find such a food. Most of the foods marketed as such were usually full of potatoes or rice or lots of vegetables and fruits - which sounded very healthy - but not what was needed. We did not want chicken- based protein as even chicken is a potential risk for yeast infections. We found ziwi peak venison - it was worrryingly expensive, I must admit. However the infection has improved immensely and his arthritis seems to be steadier than it was ( again all we got from the vet was a ‘pills for life’ assessment for his arthritis. This food is probably may not appeal to all - especially the cost - but it has been an absolute godsend for us!
